Maloi's POV
"So, pure ba intentions mo sa best friend namin?" Gwen asked Lance seriously. Colet, Mikha, and Sheena shook their heads at tiningnan ako.
"Yes. Mahal ko si Stacey ever since we were kids." he answered and looked at Stacey lovingly. Kahit hindi ko aminin at kahit na pilitin ko pang itago sa mga ngiti ko, ramdam ko na parang dinudurog ang puso ko sa sakit.
Colet: I'll call you. Pretend that tita's looking for you na. Colet texted me and when I looked at her, halata sa mukha niya na nag-aalala sa akin.
When my phone rings, agad ko itong sinagot. "I have to take this call." I excused myself at nagkunwari na parang may kinakausap.
After awhile, I went back to our table at mabilisang kinuha ang mga gamit ko.
"Hey! San ka pupunta? Stacey allowed Lance to court her na." Sabi ni Jho na parang inaasar pa 'yong dalawa.
I looked at Lance before turning to Stacey. When we locked eyes, parang may nakita akong lungkot at pagsisisi. Pero baka ako lang 'yon. Ayaw ko lang mag-assume.
"Oh, ha-ha." Hindi ako makapagsalita ng maayos. Gusto kong magkunwaring okay ako pero tinatraydor ako ng dila ko.
"Aren't you going to say Congratulations to them?" Aiah carefully asked.
"grats" I said and left.
I found myself just walking around campus, to no destination in mind, just anywhere my feet would take me. One step in front of the other, over leaves and bridges. The silence of my surroundings totally in contrast with my internal turmoil. I found myself going faster and faster, until I was full of running, trying to tire myself. I was trying to block the voices in my head, avoiding to confront the questions that has been bothering me. I ran until I was out of breath. Until my heartbeat was too fast that my chest and my heart felt like they were going to explode.
Panting and gasping for air, I stopped running, I couldn't breath.
Give me a sign.
You don't need a sign when everything is already in plain view. Just open your eyes.
I stabilized my breathing, trying to find the strength to straighten myself up.
