The awkwardness of the table was what pushed me to go to the dancefloor, where I immediately started putting my heart and soul into dancing. That was until a slow song came on and my fun was no longer being fulfilled.

By the time I got to the bar, I was out of breath and found myself sat on one of the stools. A few moments after sitting down, a newer bartender came and took my order.

"Can I get you anything?" he asked me, preparing the machine in front of him.

"Can I have a glass of water please?" I whimpered, suddenly coming to my senses that I was returning to old ways.

He nodded, and away he went to get me some water.

"Its free of charge." he smiled before placing the glass on the bar.

I remained on my stool, sipping my water and watching everyone enjoy themselves dancing. That was until I felt a pair of eyes glaring at me, to which I turned around and my attention was brought to a tall, blonde man. His piercing blue eyes made my stomach do backflips- or was that just the copious amount of gin I'd consumed?

Either way, this man had me weak in the knees without a word being said.

After a stare off with him, his lips curled into a smile, "I hope that's not vodka you're chugging." he laughed.

"I fucking wish." I joked, "But no, its just water."

"Water? You are a geordie, aren't you?" he seemed genuinely taken aback.

"Yeah, trying to sober myself up before round two." I shrugged, my eyes returning to the people in front of me.

That was until my chair had been quickly spun around, causing a gasp to come from my mouth.

"C'mon, I'm not that boring am I?" the man ahead of me retorted.

I was quite genuinely at a loss for words, all I could do was open and close my mouth, making me look like a fish.

The man in front of me just laughed, "I'm kidding. My name's Sam, by the way." he held out a hand for me to shake.

Hopping down from my stool, I took his hand, "Evelyn." I said. That was before a wave of confidence came over me, pulling Sam to the dancefloor, still holding his hand.

The music change couldn't have been any better as 'Head Over Heels' by Tears for Fears began to play. Quite frankly, I had fallen for this friendly giant in front of me, who did look quite awkward.

"You alright, Sam?" I asked, pulling him slightly closer to me.

"I'm not a dancer, darlin'. Care to teach me?" he offered.

"Of course." I reply, looking deeply into the pool of blue ahead of me.

Without hesitation, he held me by the hips, pulling my body into his as I wrapped my arms around his neck and his hands located themselves around my waist.

It was at this moment I was thankful for getting out a matching pair of undergarments before going out.

New Order's 'Blue Monday' began blaring out the speakers as we decided our time on the floor should come to an end. The two of us remained hand in hand as we walked towards the bar.

Around the corner of the bar came a barmaid of the older kind, "My lord, aren't you an attractive couple."

"We ar-" I started before Sam cut me off.

"You think?" he beamed, slithering his arm around my waist as I held onto his hand.

"What can I get the two of you then?" tha lady smiled.

"Two shots of tequila and two shots of apple sours please." he asked, pulling his wallet out.

"I have money, Sam, I don't-"

"Tough, I'm paying tonight. Need to make a great first impression on the prettiest lass in the North East." he beamed.

"Just the North East?" I teased, a smirk forming on my face.

"Don't start me off, Evelyn." he said.

"I can do more than that." I murmured, making sure he couldn't hear me. To my relief, he didn't, instead distracted by the card machine.

The barmaid presented a tray that had four glasses filled with some fluorescent liquid. Sam and I picked up the tequila first, starting strong.

We clinked our glasses, "Here's to the future." Sam winked before taking his shot.

Knocking my shot back was quite difficult, my stomach notted as soon as the glass touched my lips. With my eyes tightly shut, I took the shot, shivering as the liquid burnt my throat.

The two of us then picked up the apple sours, once again clinking glasses, "Here's to tonight." I winked before knocking my shot back.

There was a bit of silence between us for a while, until Sam pulled me from my seat, practically dragging me out of the bar's doors. At first, I figured he wanted a smoke, but you could imagine my shock as his soft lips met mine. It didn't take me long to sink into the kiss, hands reaching the curls on the back of his neck, pulling them slightly.

After playing tonsil tennis, Sam said, "You know what's next, yeah?"

To which I nodded, pulling him in for one last peck before we headed off to find a taxi.

While we waited, I started to become apprehensive, "Sam." I caught his attention as we walked the streets of Newcastle, hand in hand.

"So, if we've danced, and you're taking me home, will we even talk tomorrow morning? Or even at all?" I hummed, hoping to see him everyday from that moment.

"Darlin', what makes you think I'd forget you? You're... different." he answered, placing some of my stray curls behind my ear as his other hand lay itself lightly on my hip.

We shared another quick kiss before walking to the taxi stand next to central station. The two of us weaved through the commotion of Newcastle's nightlife, dodging a few brawls. It was quite hard for me not to stand and watch people fight, but the longer I held Sam, the more desperate I became.
