65- Chaos

I'm unsure what came over us as to go back for a third round in a different bar, following the theatre, but somehow it happened, and I had a funky feeling that tonight wasn't going to end well. Or, none of us will know how it ended due to how mortal we were. It had been a while since I'd properly been on the hoy, a little traumatised from the last time I was out drinking, but I had my siblings with me, so I'd be fine.

"More. More. More." Yvonne chanted, progressively getting louder and banging on the table.

"You paying for more like?" I giggled through sips of my gin, "I'll have another if you're buying."

"Me too." Tyler nodded. Out of all of us, he looked like he wasn't going to make the night. His eyes had massive bags under them, and he couldn't stand without swaying or stumbling every thirty seconds.

"You need no more man." Yvonne teased as she stood from her seat, "Same as last time?"

I nodded, suddenly feeling the hangover headache begin to form as the motion knocked me sick. I wasn't actually going to be sick (who do you take me for?), I'd probably just lose a bit of my conscience. Whenever alcohol was in my system, there's some point in the night where I remember nothing- only the stand out things in life. All I have to do now is hope that I don't do anything embarrassing that I'll regret when I find out about it, not that the other two will remember.

"So, you're talking to Sam again?" Tyler pestered after making sure Yvonne was out of earshot.

I felt my skin go pale and my head began to rapidly spin- and that wasn't just the alcohol talking, that was the whole situation. Not that Tyler hated Sam, he just disagreed with him. And Yvonne? She's a people-pleaser so you don't know whether she's coming or going.

"Don't get all shy now, pet." Tyler chuckled. I felt my eyes heat up and tears threaten to fall down. They didn't threaten to fall, they just did, and Tyler didn't realise until I began sniffing a lot, "Aw, I didn't mean to make you upset."

"I know." I gulped, "And yes, I guess we are talking again. Taking things slow and being respectful this time. Doing it the right way."

"Good." he nodded, not seeming irritated, "He made you happy. The happiest I've ever seen you. Good on yous for sorting it out."

I gave his cheek a quick peck, "Tell no one, please."

"'Course not." he gave me a squeezey side-hug, "And you better not've gotten lipstick on my cheek."

Party time was over when Yvonne couldn't stand up anymore. We had a hold of each side of her and found ourselves drunkenly trecking around Newcastle City Centre, trying to get to the nearest taxi bank. Once we'd safely gotten Yvonne in her taxi home, Tyler and I decided to go for a walk along the Quayside to sober up, before we were scolded by my brother for being in the state we were in.

I was staying at Bradley and Tyler's tonight because I didn't want to be home alone again, out of fear that something will happen, and no one's there living with me anymore. I've been super on edge since that thing happened, and I lacked trust again. But with the help of Cassie, and other friends, I'm slowly getting there. It's better to be safe than sorry.

"So, Sam, how's it all going?" Tyler brought it up again.

"Alright, I think. Well, I hope." I laughed bitterly, my hands rubbing my shivering and bare arms.

"He's proper smitten with you." he declared, "It's cute."

"You're proper smitten with my Brad." I huffed.

"I know." he smugly winked.

I rolled my eyes, but couldn't refrain from smiling at his antics, "I've missed this y'kna."

"Well, if you weren't so fucking clumsy, you'd be oot more often." he chuckled, pointing at the monstrosity on my foot that made a squelching noise every time I put weight on it.

"Or if I wasn't a trouble magnet." I shrugged.

Tyler looked at me and squeezed my hand, "You're amazing, Evie. The best I know." he smiled, "Howay, let's get the metro back to Shields then."

And that's what we did. It was a tiring journey home, feeling myself nod off as I looked out of the window, watching the variety of landscapes whip past. Neither Tyler or I could keep our eyes open, a likely issue of missing our stop, but the constant jolting of the train kept us alive, yet knocked me sick as the lack of contents of my stomach were mixing with the copious amounts of alcohol I'd ingested.

Behind the sound of the metro station, a very clear argument had broken out between mother and son- over what, I don't know. But one thing I do know is that no mother should talk to their child the way she was. Yes: my mam and I had our fair share of scaldings with each other, but I think I would've left the house if she spoke to me like that. Especially in public.

I tutted and turned my back to the scene, "Bless him, man. She shouldn't be speaking to him like that."

"Just a bairn too." Tyler scoffed, as I wrapped an arm over his shoulder, "Might ring Brad to order a kebab."

"Could devour a kebab." I echoed.
