10- Babies

That's how it went for a month or so: Sam and I going on the odd date, seeing each other when we could and texting everyday. Our work schedules seemed to slot into each other's rather perfectly. There was even the odd FaceTime here and there. We hadn't slept with each other again, which I have mixed emotions about.

I'd not drank one sip of alcohol in 3 weeks, not even when I went out with Rylee and Fran. Instead, I had to take care of them in the morning. Cassie wanted at least another week of two sessions together before I went to one session per week. I told her all about Sam and how we met and how he made me feel. She approves of him, but not the one night stand part.

Then there was the dreaded work. My boss wasn't happy with me when I got back, and I couldn't even argue with him as he had accommodated my needs for the past month and a bit. Safe to say, I longed for my 9 to 5s to be over as soon as I got to my desk. Quitting had came across me a few times, but I couldn't leave Nicola to suffer the wrath of our colleagues.

To top a canny month, I now had 8,683 followers on Instagram, looking at the way I dress everyday.

Now, there was a special family occasion happening: we were welcoming my niece and nephew into the family. I simply couldn't wait to be called Auntie Evie, and I was their godmother too, which just made everything better.

Bailey and his girlfriend were stood outside the church, waiting for all of the guests and showing off the twins to them. Due to my busy schedule, I hadn't had the chance to speak to my brothers much, but I did when I could. All I knew about the babies was that they were called Zara Lou and Zander Lee and that I'd love them like my own.

A Christening didn't require anything too fancy, but I always like to put an effort in. I wore the black outfit I could've wore for Sam and I's first date, minus the blazer as it was boiling out.

"Look at yous both, you're glowing, Yvonne." I pestered, pulling the couple into a hug, cautious of the kids.

"We've missed you, Evie. Haven't we?" Yvonne said, bouncing her son in her arms.

"I've missed me too. But I'm getting there." I laughed, "Do you mind if I hold him?"

"Not at all. He's your godson now." Yvonne explained.

"You wanna see Auntie Evie, aye?" Bailey asked his son.

My arms naturally held themselves in a cradle position, waiting for Zander to be placed in my arms. Admittedly, it was a mix of jealousy and joy when he sat in my arms. After a while, he started babbling.

"Is that right, eh?" I replied to him as he gripped onto my finger, "And what about my little princess?"

"At the same time?" Bailey shrieked, earning a slap from his girlfriend.

"What do you think? You spoon." I teased.

Then I had another baby placed in my arms, this time I felt better than I had before. I'd protect these two with my whole life, as though they were mine.
