Chapter 2

"I'm not going anymore." Napaupo nalang ako sa couch. Kanina pa ako nahihilo sa kakaikot ni Ms. Jham. Kanina pa pabago-bago ang disisyon niyang umattend ng general meeting. She seems bothered by something I can't explain. Namumula siya sa kaba. What's wrong with her? A-attend lang naman siya ng meeting. Of course, she's the CEO, she has to be there.

"Jham, calm down."

Umiling siya at umupo sa dulo ng kama. "I-I'm so sorry, Erish. I'm just so nervous. Dalawang buwan ko rin kaseng tinakasan ang kompanya. Sa totoo lang, I don't want this. I don't know how to handle our business, our company. Halos muntik ng mabaon sa utang dahil sa maling pamamalakad ko. Like, I never wish to be the CEO. I can't lead. That's not what I want to be. But I don't have a choice."

"Bakit hindi si Mr. Zack ang mag-handle? If you don't want the responsibility then give it to your brother," umiling lang siya sa sinabi ko.

"No. You don't understand. Marami ng inaasekaso si kuya. Maraming iniwan sa amin. I'm the first born daughter so I must accept this role. My brother have no say about it. Kahit siya, mas malaki pa nga ang mga hinahandle niyang negosyo na iniwan sa amin. Mainit ang mata sa akin ng mga malalaking business man."

"Ang company ko ang nangunguna sa lahat but they don't see me as a threat. Kase wala naman akong maibubuga. Muntik ng maagaw sa akin lahat. K-Kung hindi dahil kay Hyde, b-baka wala na lahat ng pinaghirapan ng parents ko," dagdag nito.

Napabuntong hininga ako. "Kahit na. You have to be the there. You're the owner, right? Ipakita mo kung sino ka. Ipakita mo kung anong kaya mong gawin."

"You see, Erish. I'm weak. Umaasa lang ako palagi sa ibang tao. I'm just a shadow behind my brother. I don't possess the same power that he does."

Tumayo ako at kinuha ang mamahalin niyang bag. Ngumiti ako sa kaniya. Tumingala siya sa akin so I wiped her tears.

"You will attend the meeting. I'm here with you to guide you. Don't put yourself down. You're an Yvarez, I thought Yvarez don't cry for petty reasons? Remember, you have the power."

I want her to cheer up. Sa mga sinabi niya sa akin. Wala siyang kumpyansa para sa sarili niya. She's turning down herself before other people did. Nang ma-convince ko siya, pumunta kami agad sa office niya. I watched her as she greeted the workers as if nothing had happened. She was also good at pretending, but her emotions were struggling beneath the surface. She was easily affected by people, which is why she let herself rely on others' opinions of her.

Takot siyang mapuna. Kaya kahit labag sa loob niya pinapakita niya kung anong gustong makita ng iba. I can say that she's a people pleaser.

Napakabilis niyang basahin. That's why no one feels threatened by her presence. Her presence doesn't command authority.

Naka sunod lang ako sa kaniya hanggang sa pumasok kami sa loob ng meeting room. She me gave a deep sighed before opening the door. Tumango ako. Reminding her that she can do this and I won't let her fall.

Natahimik ang ilang nag-uusap nang pumusok kami sa loob. Umupo siya sa may pinaka dulo. Letting everyone to know that she own this place. She's the queen and all of them is just her pawns.

Nagulat ako nang makita si Hyde na isa sa nakaupo. Binaling ko agad ang atensyon sa iba. Ayaw ko na magkaroon ulit kami ng interaksyon. Ramdam ko ang pagtingin niya sa akin.

"G-Good afternoon, everyone. I extend my warm greetings to each one of you. Y-You know... I-I want to start by expressing my sincere apologies for my absence over the past few weeks. U-Unfortunately, unforeseen circumstances required my attention elsewhere, but I'm grateful for your understanding and for keeping things running smoothly in my absence," panimula niya.
