We were in the car, I was driving again and I noticed the middle three seats where Trins, Liam and James were sitting were silent. My two guys looked guilty and My girl looked a mix of Pissed, Angry and Scared.
Milo was in the backseat singing his heart out to the radio and Oliver was in the front seat next to me as my hand rested in his thigh
"Milo, can you be quiet for a moment?" I asked and looked to him in the backseat through the mirror and he glared at me through the mirror before singing louder and more off-kry than before. He locked eyes with me and I rolled my eyes. He's trying to spite me.
I'll have to talk to those three later.
I followed the Sat-Nav, which took us to a dodgy town. We kept heading through to the slums where the Sat-Nav told us we had arrived. People looked to us, looking at the car with want.
I could tell my girl was on edge and watched as she looked out at the people. I parked up outside the address of Carissa's house, hoping that Dio would be nearby, and we all got out. My Principessa stayed close to me, practically attached to me, as we walked.
It wasn't long before I was carrying trinny like a backpack and she was resting her chin on my shoulder.
"Excuse me young man, I can't help but wonder what people like you are doing here." I heard an elderly male ask Milo, and Milo looked to me
"We're looking for someone called 'Dio'...do you know where we can find him?" Milo told the gentleman and he nodded
"Ah I see, what business do you have with him?" The man asked suspiciously and I finally spoke up
"He helped raise a little girl, Carissa, until my Brother was called when Carissa's Mamma passed. And my Girl here seems to think she knows him and wanted to say hello" I informed and the man's hard face turned into a soft smile
"Ahhh you're Sweet Little Rissa's family. How's she getting along?" He asked as he motioned for us to follow him
"Good." I answered shortly before Oliver picked up the rest of my sentence
"She's getting along well, Ryan's Brother got her music lessons and she loves it. She's still very thankful and Grateful." He informed and the man smiled wider
"She was always grateful. Isla and Dio did a good job of raising that kid" he commented, Isla was Carissa's mother and I'm guessing Dio stepped up to the role of Carissa's father figure.
"Well, his house is this one here. Knock on the door and tell him who you are." He smiled as we stopped outside a rough looking bungalow. Liam and Mill thanked him as I headed to the door, Trinny still on my back.
I could feel her anxiety coming through in waves, her trembling legs shook on my arms as I held her.
"We don't have to-" I started but she inturrupted with determined insistence. We made our way to the door and I let her off my back so she could knock.
She knocked once, then twice before the door was opened and revealed a guy who looked to be only a few years older than my girl at most. his hair was a dark brown and he was slightly shorter than James. It was clear he'd been in more than his fair share of fights judging by the state of him.
he looked at us all suspiciously, not allowing us inside
"What?" He grumbled,
"Are you Dio? I'm Amadeo's brother, Carissa was talking about you and my girl recognised the name. She wanted to see if it was you" I explained to him and he moved his eyes across the five of us guys before spotting Trinny who was looking at the ground and hadn't looked at him yet
"Yellow?" He asked and she looked up to him, which made him smile brightly as he went over to her and enveloped her into a hug, which she returned tightly.
I felt so fucking jealous.
He invited us in, welcoming Trinny inside and making her some tea. He didn't offer us any though.
"Oh my god, I never thought I'd see you again! I'm so sorry, my parents tried and tried to get William out of your life, but after your mother left he took you away and I never saw you again - I'm glad to see you've escaped him though." he rambled on to Trinny as he handed her the tea and sat down. He obviously knew a great deal of William and his wrongdoings.
"You say you know Carissa? How is she getting on? We all miss her around here - she was a character. Do you know if she'll come round soon?" He asked us guys hopefully and James answered
"Definitely a character, she's doing well though. She'll grow up to be strong and determined" James expanded and Dio scoffed with humour
"More like stubborn, I've never met a little girl who was more stubborn than Carissa, although Yellow here would give Carissa a run for her money." He rambled and I raised a brow as I saw the corner of Trinnys lips curl up slightly
"How so?" Milo asked curiously and Dio smiled
"I remember her as a toddler being absolutely chaotically evil when William wasn't about. obviously I don't know much about how she was after four, since William moved her. It's such a shame about it all. He was a nasty piece of work - but little Yellow was always running around, falling over, breaking things. She was always bringing a bit of sunshine to this shitty little place. I remember one time she actually fully singed her hair because she found a lighter in the road. How are you these days anyway? Still curious?" He told us, making our jaws drop. I couldn't imagine Trinny Playing with a lighter and causing absolute chaos. No way, it didn't sound like her at all.
"Good... Carissa misses you. I..." Our girl tried to speak to the guy and he just smiled and encouraged her and waited for her to talk. He didn't pressure her, and once they started to talk I can't say i wasn't jealous at how easy it was for them to talk. Granted, she was talking to us. But she was talking to him with such ease and calmness that wasn't present when she spoke to us.
"Did you want to stay for dinner? My mother is cooking - she'd love to see you again" he offered and she offered without a second thought before checking with us. Liam looked at me and I could see the same questions swirling in his head too.
What was different about him? Why was it so easy for him to get through to her?
They spent the afternoon chatting, me and the guys piping in where needed.
There was a knock on the door, and Trins flinched a little. But Dio didn't question it, he didn't even flinch or attempt to see if she was okay - he just got up and opened the door to reveal a tall-ish older woman who placed her bag down before greeting us all
"Trinette! Dio told me you were here, but I didn't believe him. How are you, dear?" The woman asked and trins stumbled a little whilst answering.
The dinner consisted of the three getting re-aquainted and at the end, I exchanged numbers so they could keep in contact at Trinnys request, and we got on the flight home. Finally, I'm looking forward to not having to hide as much.
"Principessa?" I asked, I need to know.
"You spoke to him easily, you were the most relaxed I've seen you since you got back, you ate more, you weren't scared...do we scare you?" I asked, hoping it would just be my imagination
"Who wouldn't be scared of you?" She asked, my heart sank with the weight of the world.
We scare her...
