Sixty Four - Artemis

I watched myself in the mirror as Dandelion and Poppy stood guard. My stomach had blown up like a balloon, I'm reaching four months now and the wedding is tomorrow...but Christ I didn't think I'd be this big. But I didn't expect twins either - although i guess i should have, since my ma had multiples nearly every time... My dress was hidden away, and our families were all in town for this.

"Baby?" Nathan called, I threw on a shirt and went to the door. He came over and hugged me from behind, lifting the baby belly up to relieve my back for a bit. "Hi" he kissed my cheek

"You're meant to be with your friends" he shook his head

"I wanted to be with you instead" his head fell into my neck. These past few months he's been super touchy feely, when I come home from work he turns full on lovesick puppy mode and wants cuddles and love. It's adorable.

"I know, but go on! Have fun. I'm meeting my girls later, you won't enjoy our activities." I look at myself in the mirror before stepping away from him and grabbing a dress off the hanger so I can put it on

"You're not going to a strip club" his stern look made me laugh

"Oh no, definitely not. We're going to get our nails done and have a spa day-"

"I'll come. My nails need doing anyway, all that farming...." He watches me change from his place on the bed.

"Excuses, excuses. Go on, Lawson spent ages planning this for you. You'll have fun- I'll text if there's anything wrong" I comfort him before grabbing some shoes and my bag so I can leave. Aurelia honks the rental car's horn in the driveway, making some kind of tune and inadvertently winding Poppy up whilst dandelion watched her new friend barking at the car

Nathan strips and pouts as he goes and changes.

"See you tomorrow at the alter, bye!" I rush out as quick as I can, getting into the car and sending kisses over voice note to him.

"You ready for a spa day?!" London smiles, her wife and her brother were looking after the kids and aisley would be bringing the twins on the plane tomorrow morning. London had said she hadn't told the boys about my wedding, which was a relief - god knows I don't need a shootout happening. But maybe one day I'll be strong enough to see them again.

"So excited! I've not had one of these in a while" Aurie giggled as she drove according to the GPS "London, are your kids coming to the wedding?" She asked, turning her head as she asked before turning her eyes back to the road

"Uhm yea. Art kind of insisted that they came" Lonnie didn't sound too sure about them "are you still sure? They can stay back home"

"I'd love for them to be a part of the big day. Alessia can come before the ceremony to check out the place and know where things are, and then she can go into the reception room first and get seated too if that will help, I want to include your kids....but if you really don't want them there I can get a babysitter" I offered, and she sighed

"No, you're...it's all good. I just get worried - Cosimo can't stay still for five seconds, Giacomo and Sebastian are mostly well behaved but I worry about ruining your big day- enough about me. Let's go and get relaxed" she smiled

The spa was great. Oh my god, I have never felt more relaxed in my life. They even had a bed which worked for baby bumps so I could comfortably lie on my front. Best wedding gift ever.

"So you're staying with us tonight?" Aurelia asked hopefully before she ate another mouthful of food

"Yep! And then tomorrow after we're ready, I need you two to help get the flower girls sorted. Your daughter is sure she doesn't want to do it?" I asked London and she nodded

"She doesn't want to, I think she was scared? but Giacomo was jealous" she was laughing and I hummed

"Does Giacomo want to? Send a text to Aisley and let her know he'll be a flower boy" I instruct "but yea, Poppy and Dandelion are our ring bearers" I smile, thinking about tomorrow. God I'm so excited to marry him!

"Art!" I heard my brother call, and looked over

"Hi Atticus, what're you doing here?" I wonder, he shouldn't be alone...

"Nate sent me, he said to check on you- but I'm not meant to tell you that part" he whispered, my two closest friends laughed at his lack of secret keeping

"Tell him she's dancing on a table-"

"Oh! And that she's very happy"

London and Aurelia pipe up..for fucks sake, are they trying to kill my fiancé?!

"Okay! Bye" He ran off before I could get him to wait and tell him not to say any of that

"You're trying to kill Nate off! Oh my god he's going to lose his shit, if you have given him a heart attack I swear" I shake my head and bit my lip to stop a smile.

"Relax, he wants to check up on you then we'll give him a reason to." London grinned "and that's probably him ringing you now" she plucked the phone out of my pocket

"Hi Nate! She's good, no- no! She's absolutely fine. I don't know why Atticus would say that-" I snatched the phone from her

"Hey baby, what's going on" he sounded super worried "you shouldn't be dancing on tables, not in your condition"

"Just the girls being dramatic. They wanted to give you a reason to check in on me."

"Are you absolutely sure? I can come and get you"

"Nate, I love you. And I'll see you tomorrow" I chuckled, he didn't find it funny

"I love you. And I can't wait to see you tomorrow."

i laughed at my adorable soon-to-be husband as we got up

"You ready for nails?!" Aurelia bounced up from her chair as she looked at the time. I smiled, paying the bill as me and London got up. I stopped when I felt a flutter in my stomach "everything okay?"

"I think they kicked?!" I looked at London and Aurelia as my eyes started to water. My best friends came closer and enclosed me in a hug with words of happiness and congratulations. I love them so much.
