Seventy Three - Artemis

"Hey, Nate?" i called as i waddled uncomfortably down the hallway, before remembering he was working outside all day with Jax, Hunter and Lawson to prepare for any bad weather that may happen soon. Shit.

The doctor said not to get too hurried until my contractions were a certain distance apart, but I couldn't remember what that distance was and I wanted it to go smoothly.

Stay calm

Poppy and Dandelion would not stop following me, even when I made my way upstairs to get changed, the bag was in the doorway downstairs so as soon as I was in a fresh dress I got my ass downstairs and sat on the wraparound porch to wait for him. Aurelia rang me a few moments after I'd sat down to deliver good news, and we agreed to go out sometimes after my babies were born.

"Hey, art?" I heard Hunter call, one of Nate's friends. I found it odd, he never came for me when the four of them were together.

"Hey, everything okay?" I asked suspiciously, hiding a grimace when a particularly cruel contraction hit

"Kind of? What's happened?"

"Jax tried to jump a fence when Nate was grabbing some stuff and he tore his inner leg up pretty badly, the fence wasn't finished. Nate took him to the hospital and sent me to look after you since you're meant to be giving birth soon." He informed me and I groaned. Stupid Jax!

"How long will they be?"

"It was pretty nasty, I wouldn't say he'd be home before midnight at least...Shit." His face paled as a painted grunt escaped me "Are you in labour?" He asked and I shrugged

"Kind of. Can you grab my go bag in the hallway? I need to get there to get organised if he isn't going to be free for a bit" I rocked myself up, courtesy of the rocking chair Nathan's Grandma gave me, and stood whilst I waited for him. He stayed calm which helped, and dropped me at the hospital before parking his car whilst I checked myself in.

A midwife came towards me and took me to a room, which I was thankful for, before helping me settle. Moments passed before Nate rang my phone.

"Hunter said you're in labour?! What room are you in and I'll head straight up" his panicked voice wavered on the phone

"Don't rush if Jax needs you. I'm still very early, not even close to halfway dilated. I just wanted to make sure I got here-"

"Jax doesn't need me. He's got Lawson. Where are you Art, I want to be there!" He sounded distraught at the thought of not being here

"Room 8b, someone is coming in-" he yelled that he was on his way and hung up as the lady walking through the door smiled

"Morning Artemis, I hear we are in labour, congratulations! This is your first time?" She took a seat on the comfy chair next to the bed before confirming. Her warm demeanour was comforting
