Chapter 19- The Unexpected

It was a page 3 party at a sophisticated hotel. The security check was rigorous. High profile celebrities were all invited. Press and media is in full swing and covered all the faces of Bollywood. Manik did not reach the venue yet and Dhruv is worried about it. ''Siya, Manik kaha hai? Everyone is coming'' Dhruv asked Siya. ''He is going to be here in a couple of minutes'' Siya said. ''Ok I believe you today'' Dhruv said. Mukti and Abhimanyu came along with Nyonika. ''Manik, kahi dikhayi nahi de raha hai, kaha hai wo?'' Mukti asked Siya. ''He said he is coming but don't know where he is'' Siya said worried. ''What! Saare guests aa chuke hai ab wo yaha nahi hai'' Nyonika asked. ''Thank God, he is here'' Abhimanyu pointed at Manik. Everybody breathed fresh air when they saw him.

''Itna late kyu hua Manik?'' Siya asked Manik. ''I was getting ready so I got late'' Manik said. ''Manik will always be late at all important occasions, it has become a ritual now'' Mukti said but Manik stayed silent. Mukti and Abhimanyu stepped aside from Manik and Siya. ''I feel everyone is looking at me, I'm I weird?'' Mukti asked Abhimanyu. ''No, you're just pregnant'' Abhi said. ''Log tho mujhe aise ghoor rahe hai ki jaise kabhi pregnant aurat ko dekha hi nahi'' Mukti complained. ''I feel that is not the reason, but pregnancy mein jo glow hota hai, iski wajhe se tum bahut beautiful lag rahi ho, isliye sab tujhe hi dekh rahe hai'' Abhi said to calm her down. ''Waise tujhe kuch craving nahi ho raha hai ab?'' Abhi asked Mukti. ''Mann tho kar raha hai but I can't eat because of mom, just as I start eating mom will come and tell me no sugars, spicy mat khana, ye tumhara diet list mein nahi hai and all'' Mukti complained on Nyonika. ''Aunty is busy with Manik and Siya, we can sneak in the buffet and have something delicious'' Abhi suggested and she readily agreed.

Nandini reached the venue and went inside after a small photoshoot session. ''Abhi tak Navya, Cabir ya Aryaman nahi aaye'' she called as she saw none of them there. Aryaman said he is already on the way. Navya and Cabir came a bit later. ''Arre Nandini, tum itni jaldi aa gayi'' Navya asked. ''Guys party 8 o clock tha, and I was here at 8:30, you guys are technically late'' Nandini said. ''Me and Cabir, we anyhow come early on set, yaha time pe aana zaruri nahi hai na'' Navya said. Aryaman arrived late as usual. ''Cake cutting ho gaya?'' he asked as he came. ''Ab tak nahi hua'' Nandini said. ''So I'm not late then'' Aryaman said. ''This will be a long night Nandini, see Manik has to meet everyone, wish, greet everyone. Photos and selfies. Bollywood's famous gossips pe charcha, kisi producer ke naye film ke baatein. Humare film ke promotion, distributors ko cream lagana, ye sab ke baad hoga cake cutting kabhi'' Aryaman said to Nandini. 

''Oh, so its going to be boring'' Nandini sighed. ''Absolutely but I'm with you for your company'' Aryaman said. He took a glass of beer in his hand. ''Don't get drunk Aryaman, I'm not gonna drop you home tonight'' Nandini warned. ''Nahi chahiye bhi, Manik mera care karta hai and he said he will send his driver with me now, he said drink as much as you want'' Aryaman said. ''So tum dono friends aaj bahut peene wale hai kya?'' Nandini asked. ''I will get drunk but Manik, he is a teetotaler'' Nandini is shocked to hear. ''So Manik never drink?'' she asked to confirm. ''Of course never. Its for Siya'' Aryaman told. ''Why for Siya?'' she asked him. ''Manik doesn't want Siya to consume alcohol because that is not advisable for her health, so he himself implements it in first place. Manik aur Siya na ek dusre ke liye bahut sacrifices karte hai'' Aryaman said. ''Manik is lucky to get Siya in his life, but the problem with them is they don't tell each other if someone doesn't like anything in their partner'' Aryaman said. 

''That is a red flag in a relationship Aryaman'' Nandini said. ''Yes. Manik doesn't like this kind of party culture but he stays silent as he can't tell Siya about it. And Siya she doesn't like Manik quitting anything because of her, she likes Manik the way he is but Manik sab kuch Siya ke saath karna pasand karta hai. He is so possessive of her that Siya kuch kaam Manik se chupke karna padh raha hai usse'' said Aryaman. ''But Aryaman, if this continues, they will end up blaming each other for all the sacrifices they did'' Nandini said. ''Manik kabhi Siya ke saamne uski galti nahi batayega. Its all his guilt'' Aryaman said. ''I've heard Manik was previously involved in Siya and Dhruv's parents'' Nandini asked. ''It was an unfortunate accident but caused by Manik. He feels guilty for it'' Aryaman said.
