Chapter 68- You are my HOME

Nandini's POV: 

I generally hate last minute shoots but kal raat ke baad main na Rohan ko face kar paungi na Manik ko. It will be the best excuse to skip the wedding rituals. Manik mere baare mein aise kaise keh sakta hai. He thought I said yes to Rohan. How could he think like that. I couldn't believe that I didn't slap him yet. I have packed my things for the shoot day and started there. It was just an ad shoot so it might not take much of the day. I had my make up and hair done in an hour and we were shooting without a shot gap until lunch. I finally got my hands on the phone and saw many missed calls from Manik. Why is he calling me again? I'm not gonna call him back anyway. My phone buzzed again with Manik's call but I chose to ignore him. 

My shoot almost wrapped up around 6 pm in the evening. Navya called me to ask what I was wearing for the wedding. ''Nahi Navya, I had a shoot today so I think I'll go home and rest rather than going there'' I said. Mujhe Manik ya Rohan se milne ka mann bhi nahi tha. ''Saare functions attend karke shaadi skip karna acha lagega kya, tum ek kaam karo, mere ghar aa jao and we'll get ready and go from here'' she said. ''Ok sounds like a plan, I'll be there in some time'' I said and issi bahaane main Dhruv se bhi baat karungi. But I have to make sure to not hurt Rohan again. How dumb I was to not realize Rohan's feelings for me. Maine kabhi usse aise wrong signals nahi diye hai. I went to Navya's place and we got ready but Cabir isn't home yet to start. ''Cabir ko aane mein itna time kyu lag raha hai'' Navya wondered. ''Usse call kar ke poocho na, agar wo nahi aa sakte tho hum dono hi chale jayenge'' I said. ''Nahi nahi tum dono wahi ruko, I'll be there in 10'' Cabir hung up when Navya called him.

Cabir was in haste when he reached home. ''Kahe the tum?'' Navya asked but he ignored it and was searching for something. ''What are you looking for?'' Navya asked him. ''TV ka remote'' he said still searching for it. I gave it to Navya as it was beside me and she passed it on to him. ''Oh yeah'' he said and played the TV. ''Ab hume late ho raha hai and you want to watch TV! Now?'' Navya again said. ''There's a news, so let's watch in TV'' Cabir said and looked at me. ''What?'' I asked him. ''Manik par ban hata diya'' he said. Oh, so this was the excited news for Cabir. ''Sach mein?'' Navya asked him. ''Wahi confirm karne ke liye TV dekh raha hoon'' he said. As I watched along with them, film chamber has now announced to lift the ban on Manik. Film chamber ki president ne khud bola press meet mein. ''When was this press meet happened?'' I asked Cabir. ''Today evening around 4 pm'' Cabir said. I was shocked to know how influential Dhruv is! Ek taraf uski khud ki shaadi aur ek taraf wo sirf calls mein ye sab manage kar raha hai. 

Dhruv kisi ke saath aisa kaisa kar sakta hai. He has no rights to play with Manik's career. Agar mujhe ab pata nahi chalta ki Dhruv is behind all of this, will Manik ever get back to films again? Why is this Manik accepting his defeat? Maine wo Manik se pyaar kiya jo har problem aur har situation ko ache se handle karta tha. But now, Manik seems to be so lost and dejected. He just seems to be the puppet in the hands of Dhruv. He is not a kid to be taken care of. I'm sure Dhruv would now do anything to get Manik back in the game. ''Good for him'' I said. ''But ye itne achanak hua kaise? Matlab Manik ko Mumbai aake kuch hi din hue aur jo 2 saal mein nahi hua, abhi kyu ho raha hai?'' Navya is back in her CID mode. ''Main bhi wahi soch raha hu'' Cabir agreed with Navya. ''Guys ye sab hum raaste mein bhi discuss karenge, shall we leave?'' I asked them. ''Yeah, I'll get ready soon and we will leave in 10 minutes'' Cabir said.

Soon, we reached the venue and were greeted by Siya. ''Siya, Manik kaha hai?'' Cabir asked her. ''Wo apne dress lene gaya tha, aate hi hoga'' she said and left to attend other guests. Cabir tried calling Manik but said that Manik's phone is switched off. Perfect! Matlab subah se wo mujhe call kar raha hai aur jab main uske liye yaha wait kar rahi hai tho wo gaayab. I saw Rohan at a distance and decided to break the ice. ''Hi Rohan'' I said awkwardly like I'm meeting him after many days. Mujhe khud laga ki ye bahut hi formal wish hai. He smiled sheepishly. ''Nandini, I completely understand the awkwardness but tumhe aise feel karne ki zarurat hi nahi hai'' he said. ''But I thought you were the one who is ignoring me'' I said. Because subah se na koi call na message aaya Rohan se. This is so not him. He would definitely call or message him or at least would have sent a voice note. This has become a kind of tradition for us.
