Chapter 3 - The Hunt

"Another project? What does it mean!" Manik asked anticipating Siya's answer. "I have listened to a story today and I said yes, I can't adjust my dates and it would be a mess" Siya said honestly. "That shouldn't be a problem, this project would go on sets only when you are ready, in fact I thought I should discuss this with Dhruv that I want to produce this film under dad's production" Manik declared with Dhruv and Siya. "Manik, I don't like you to take risk, specially when the expectations are high" Dhruv intervened.

"Dhruv, you were right, this story is really awesome that I wanted to invest in this project. You know this is a fool-proof one, you must make Siya understand what I mean" Manik asked Dhruv. "But Manik, agar Siya isme interested nahi hai tho leave her, isme kya baat hai" Dhruv said simply. "Siya ke alawa iss story mein koi aur suit hi nahi hoga, I'm sure she would feel the same when she listens to it" Manik was confident. "Manik, you are speaking like a child, you can't always act only with me, in fact you should work with a fresh face" Siya advised but he is in no mood to listen. "Ok, who narrated you the story? When did you say yes! Abhi tak mujhe ye kyu nahi pata?" Manik asked patiently.

"Maine abhi abhi suna hai, it's a female oriented script, it's a biopic, queen Victoria ki" her voice filled with enthusiasm. "Remember I went to meet Mithra, her husband narrated the script, that was the reason I met her today" she said. "Usne mujhe phone pe kuch storyline share kiya, detailed script sun ne gayi thi unke ghar" Manik understood why she was adamant on going there. "Yes Manik, she already made up her mind, there's no use in convincing her" Dhruv said. "So you both have taken your decisions already" Manik is clearly hurt. He didn't want to wait there and made a move. Siya tried to stop him but she couldn't.

Manik sat in his car and thought for a while. Dhruv called him. "Manik, I know you are upset, but Siya needs some space, she knows what is right to her!" Dhruv said. "Does that mean my opinion holds no value to you" Manik wanted to ask but he couldn't. "So what would you suggest?" Manik reluctantly asked Dhruv. "It would be better if we call for an audition" Dhruv suggested and Manik had no option. He silently drove home back. "Kya hua Manik, kuch pareshaan lag rahe ho!" Nyonika asked him. "I went for a story narration and story bahut acha laga mujhe" Manik said. "I wanted to invest in this mom, like dad wanted to but he couldn't." Nyonika remembered how her husband died of a heart attack when his first film was in progress.

"We were never financially strong to take up that but now I'm sure we can produce it, budget bhi itna nahi hoga" Manik hoped so. "Ye tho good news hai, tum itna udaas kyu ho?" she asked. "Siya said no to act in this" Manik said and she understood why he is upset. "Manik, to do or not, is her decision, you can't force her anyway" she said. Manik's phone rang and it was Siya. "Hello" he spoke. "Are you angry with me?" she asked. How can Manik be angry with her. "No" he said plainly. "Liar" she caught him. "You know how it is and still asking me" Manik said. "Manik, I don't want you to take risk, tum akele produce karne ka idea ek bar rethink karna" she said. "So what do you suggest" Manik listened to her.

"Dhruv ko production mein kaafi experience hai, his production house has a brand value, why don't you both collaboratively produce this project! That way either profit or loss, we'll be sharing both" Siya suggested. Manik had to agree as Dhruv has got him this opportunity and readily agreed to her proposal. "Tho casting director se baat karke figure out kar lena" she said. "Dad ka sapna ab poora hoga" Manik said to Siya. "Yes, if everything goes well, this will be your dream project" Siya wished for him. "Ab tho gussa chod do my hero, smile" she said and her wish is his command.

"By hook or crook, I should make Siya accept this project" he thought to himself. Next day, Dhruv and Manik has signed an agreement for their upcoming project and had a small pooja at Dhruv's office. "Coffee!" Manik asked Siya. "Of course, chalo" they drove to a coffee shop nearby. "Itna crowd hai, is it right to go there" Siya asked. "Aisa hai tho hum kabhi bhi bahar nahi jaa sakte" Manik encouraged her to get down. They both were papped by the reporters at the coffee shop and had to wait 15 minutes to enter.

"Hi sir, we regret inconvenience to you but can you please place an order so we can send it to your doorstep next time?" Manager politely asked. "Sure, we would do that next time, but for now can we get a cup of coffee" Manik acted polite. "Sure sir" Manager went and sent two coffee. "Isliye maine kaha ki kabhi bhi bahar nahi jaa sakte hum" Siya said. They had to return early due to public inconvenience. "Bahut bada gadbad ho gaya" Dhruv said as they reached his office. "Kya hua!" Manik asked. "Second male lead ke role ke liye, hum ne Asif Khan ko contact kiya, he agreed in the morning and now he is asking us to change storyline" Dhruv said.

"Hum aise kisike liye bhi story change nahi kar sakte" Manik was firm with his decision. "Aise kya changes hai" Siya asked as she is unaware of the story. "Second male lead character ka death hota hai end mein and he wants to change it" Dhruv said. "Iss character ke liye mere mind mein koi hai, let me call him" Manik said. "Kaun?" Dhruv asked.

"Aryaman Khurana" Manik smirked. "What are you talking? Why would he agree?" Dhruv asked doubtfully. "He has to come, I will personally talk to him" Manik said confidently. "Ab sirf heroine ki bhaari!" Dhruv said. "And I have someone in my mind too" Manik did not expect such a swift reply from Siya. "Itni jaldi" Dhruv knew exactly what's cooking. "Ok, who is it?" Dhruv asked Siya. Manik was silent all the while when they both are talking.

"It's Nandini Murthy, I have seen her audition video" Siya declared.
