Chapter 74- Shaadi ke Side Effects

Nandini's POV:

I hope Manik hurt na ho jaye. Manik ko rokne ke liye mere paas aur koi reason nahi tha. He left me immediately when I said it. ''So ab tum star heroine ho, aur main jo ab kuch bhi nahi hu'' he said. ''That's not what I meant Manik'' I tried to say but then Aryaman and Siya have finally found us. ''Tum dono idhar ek saath?'' Aryaman asked. ''Ha main washroom se aa raha tha and Nandini was here so I was asking her, why she is here?'' Manik's voice is evident that he is hurt. I should not have said that. ''Ok then, it's time to board the flight'' Aryaman called and Manik went away with him. I felt like Manik is taking away my heart with him. I was left with Siya who accompanied me till my car. I was in no mood to talk to her. ''Thank you so much Nandini, pata nahi tum Manik se kya keh diya but wo turant maan gaye'' she said and I smiled in response. 

I wanted to talk to Manik for once but his phone seems to be already in flight mode. I can't wait till the flight lands. On the top, Manik denied Dhruv's offer and he thinks that Dhruv should not face any problem because of him. Manik kabhi samjhega hi nahi ki Dhruv is the actual problem. He won't let Manik go off that easily. Dhruv ko deny karke kisi aur banner mein kaam kiya tho, kya wo Manik ko aage badne dega! I don't know if I'm overthinking but Manik won't get anything so easily. I don't know why would he always learn something in the hardest way possible. 

With all the thoughts running in the background, I drifted to sleep. This is like a dream house for me and I always dreamt of me and Manik together here. I woke up in anticipation of any call from Manik but then I realized he would be still in the flight to contact him. Now, the distance between us is literally killing me. Instead of Manik, I found Rohan's missed calls. 6 missed calls and from Rohan, sounds really fishy. I then looked at the clock sign in the phone only to realize it's already 10 am. I think Rohan was trying to call me since morning and here I'm having no clue about what it is! ''Hello Rohan'' I spoke as I called him back. ''Nandini, could you please come over to my place, it's an emergency'' he said and hung upon me. Rohan has never sounded like this before. He was a person to never lose his calm and cool. I mean wo itna calm nahi hai but he prefers to be like that with everyone. He would never show any emotion to anyone. 

I got ready soon and left to meet him. Maid has opened the door as usual and said that Rohan is waiting for me upstairs. I turned to go into his room but there are sounds from the other side. I walked to the other side where I saw Siya as soon as I entered. Mithra and Rohan are standing on the other side of Ethan's bed while I went inside and stood beside Siya. ''Kya hua?'' I asked as no one ever spoke since I come. ''Ethan ka test reports aa gaya, they said that he can never walk'' Rohan said with a heavy heart. ''But the doctor said it was a temporary condition, aise kaise ho sakta hai'' I asked him. ''Tumhe second opinion leni hi chahiye Mithra'' Siya suggested and I completely agree with her. ''Second opinion ki baat hi nahi hai, Mithra had reconfirmed it with other doctors whom she know. They confirmed the same'' Ethan spoke finally. I didn't understand why Rohan has called me here, when all they need is a doctor now. But Siya ko bhi bulaya inhone, ho kya raha hai yaha.

''If this has happened with you, would you still react the same way?'' Siya asked Mithra who was in tears. Why is Siya being harsh on Mithra! ''Mujhe kya karna chahiye tha! I never dreamt of such thing in my life. Doctors are even advising to get his legs amputated'' Mithra cried. ''Why are you thinking to divorce him then?'' Siya almost shouted. So now I understand why Rohan has mentioned it as emergency. Out of everything, how can this woman on earth think of a divorce with her husband just because he is paralyzed. ''If you are in his place, will Ethan ever think of separating from you, divorce dhoor ki baat hai, he will not even leave you for a second'' Siya said to Mithra. No one will ever think of getting separated in such situations. Ethan just sat there like a statue, emotionless. 

''I can't take this anymore. Kuch hi dinon ke liye, he was unable to move. I know how difficult it is to manage everything without him. I can't live like this seeing him in this crippled state. Hum dono ke liye ye decision easy nahi tha, but eventually ye decision hume lena hi pada'' Mithra said she feels sad for Ethan, then why can't she make a move towards him. Wo Ethan se dhoor bhagna kyu chahti hai. ''Has Ethan also agreed to divorce?'' I asked them as Mithra hinted that 'we' took the decision. ''He also agreed and that is the problem'' Rohan finally decided to open his mouth for the day. ''Tumhe aisi kya majboori thi?'' Siya asked him. She is in her anger avatar and I'm seeing it for the first time. ''Usse mere saath rehna nahi hai, that way even I feel suffocated in this relationship'' he said. ''Jaha relationship mein suffocation hoti hai na, waha dhoor hona hi padega'' I said not thinking for the second time. Rohan called me aside. ''What's wrong with you Nandini? Tum ye dono ko alag hone ki advice de rahi ho?'' he was shocked. ''Yes, Ethan already is going through so much in his life and both of them will be at peace with this decision'' I said. 

Siya then came out. ''Nandini, you should have thought before you said that. Hum tumhe yaha ek moral support ke liye bulaya hai'' Siya said. ''Guys, I need to be with them for now'' Rohan left from there and I think I should leave too. Mithra should have never thought of divorcing him in such a state. She is pregnant and he is crippled. Both of them need each other to support them. But if she can't tolerate him or if she feels disgusted to be with handicapped man, then Ethan should feel elated to get separated from such toxic woman. This shows how weak their married life is! Sab kuch acha hai tho ye dono saath mein hai, ek musibath kya aa gaya aur ye dono divorce ki baat kar rahe hai. Maybe Siya and Rohan cannot relate with my opinion but mujhe explain karna bhi nahi hai. If Manik and me have a situation like this, will we ever fall apart? No, I won't let us go through all this. Jo hum dono ke liye sahi hai, hum wahi karenge, chahe wo decision kitna bhi tough kyu na ho. Manik ab tak call kyu nahi kiya. Hasn't he landed yet?

The whole day I spent waiting for Manik's call and finally usko time mila call karne ke liye. I was on cloud nine when I heard him. ''Hi Nandini, just reached home'' he said. ''Ab tak call kyu nahi kiya, airport se bhi call kar sakte ho na'' I was really desperate to talk to him. ''Ha but maa aur Mukti mujhe lene aaya hai aur call karne ka time hi nahi mila. So I reached home and called you right after'' he explained. ''Is everything okay?'' I hope ye mere baaton ka galat matlab nahi nikala ho. ''Yeah'' he sounded smooth. ''Yaha tho meri jaan nikal gayi thi. I didn't mean to hurt you Manik but'' he cut me off. ''Nandini, whatever you said is right. Right now, I'm a failure. I will not say that mujhe bura nahi laga but I promise one day you will feel proud of me. Main tumhare kaabil ban ke dikhaunga. Tab tak ke liye I won't reveal our wedding to anyone'' he said. Thank God he agreed. ''Hum dono already ek doosre ke kaabil hai Manik. But to tell everyone about us, I still need some time yet'' I said. 

''Ok take your time but don't take forever, because forever is only our thing'' he said. ''That's too cheesy Mr. Malhotra and I hope you remember that I'm on diet'' I said. ''Ha I remember that and I know how to manage your calories too'' he said. ''Manik, shut up'' I replied playfully. ''Main diet regulation and calorie cutting ki baat kar raha hoo, isme galat kya hai'' he asked. ''You are talking about calorie intake in kitchen but how about burning calories in the bedroom?'' I asked him. 

''Hmm, someone is getting naughty. But this ain't happening soon until we officially announce our wedding to everyone'' Manik said.
