Chapter 37- Guilt-ridden

Manik's POV:

''Can I ask you something Manik?'' Nandini asked me. ''Yes'' I said. ''Do you also feel that I should not be dubbing myself'' she asked me. ''Look Nandini, Dhruv never allowed any female actor to dub for their own character. Your voice is so good but for Dhruv, he wants everything to be perfect. He never made even Siya dub for her character'' I tried to explain how Dhruv is. ''So, will I be getting a chance to select the one who will dub for me?'' she asked me. I'm not sure but I should try for Nandini. ''Ok, you can select who will dub for you, happy!'' I don't want to disappoint her any more. Aryaman should not have said that I hate her, but why does he think so? ''Ab hum yaha se baahar kaise nikal jaye?'' she asked me. ''Simple! Call Aryaman and say that we have sorted out everything and ask him to open the door'' I suggested and she did the same but Aryaman's phone went unanswered.

''He made all the arrangements for Navya and Cabir, let's see if he has made arrangements for us too'' Nandini searched if there is something. We found nothing to eat but he kept blankets for us to sleep. ''Inn blankets ke alawa yaha kuch nahi hai'' I said. ''So, good night then'' she said. ''Ok, even I'm able to sleep now, good night'' I smiled at her. ''This Aryaman is so annoying, isne blankets tho diya par hume sone kaha pe'' she said. ''Let's do one thing, humare paas do blankets hai, one we will use as a bedsheet to spread on and one will use as blanket'' I said. We spread a blanket on the grass in the lawn and slept on it. I gazed at the stars while Nandini is sleeping on the other side. ''Are you still awake?'' I asked her and she slowly turned to face me. ''No'' she said simply and sat upright. Now I couldn't see her face but her long black hair. ''Starry night and dark sky'' I said. ''The sky is bright enough, it's not so dark'' she said looking at the sky. ''But my view is obstructed by your hair'' I said. She tried to tie her hair into a bun but I stopped it. ''Let it be, I like your long hair being open'' I said. 

She smiled. ''Did you change your perfume?'' she asked. ''Did you notice?'' I was swift to ask. ''Yes, in Kashmir, in flight, I remember you were not using this. This fragrance feels good'' she said. So she remembers my scent too. I soon dozed off to sleep, under the sky, beside her. 

Birds chirped and early morning sun is on full rise. I pulled my duvet cover and I felt her close to me. I opened my eyes sleepily and watched how peacefully she slept on my arm. I pulled my hand beneath her slowly. I searched for my phone and found it. 17 missed calls from Siya! Why didn't I woke up then. Damn, my phone is in vibration mode. Why did she called me so many times! ''Hello'' I called her back. ''Good Morning Manik'' she said in a sweet tone. ''Woke up just now, so I didn't see mobile'' I said. ''Are you sure you are alone?'' she asked me. I looked at Nandini who is sleeping beside me. ''Yes'' I said stammering. I was so guilty to lie to Siya about being with Nandini. ''I know who are you with'' Siya exploded a bomb. ''What?'' I asked panicked. ''You had to be with Nandini all night'' she said. I was speechless! How did she come to know that I was with Nandini. I moved away from Nandini and stood on the other side of the pool. The doors were open and I saw Aryaman coming inside. 

''Manik! do not panic. Aryaman ne mujhe sab kuch bataya that he locked you with Nandini'' she said. Aryaman came near me and took my phone. ''Good morning Siya, I hope tumne isse zyada daraya nahi. Nandini seems to be still sleeping, Manik and me, we are on the other side of the pool'' he said to Siya on phone and gave it to me. ''I hope you and Nandini cleared your misunderstandings, Aryaman ne mujhe pehle hi bataya ki that he is going to lock you and her together'' she said and I did not know what to say. ''I'm sorry for doing this but why do you think I'll put your relation on stake, maine pehle hi Siya ko ye bata diya. I don't want anyone to interfere in between you and Siya'' he said. ''I was also nervous when Siya called me and said about Nandini'' I said. 

''I hope you and Nandini cleared your misunderstandings'' he asked. Why do I feel like I'm cheating on Siya! I was so nervous when she called. I don't lie to myself that I feel so good around Nandini but I can't cheat Siya. I guess it's wrong to have feelings on Nandini. I should not let Aryaman also know anything about it. ''Why do I have anything with Nandini, usse mujhe koi lena dena nahi hai. I've settled her account anyway, bas usne dubbing ke liye apni dubbing artist khud select karna chahti hai and I said OK'' I said. ''Please be nice to her, don't be mean. I know tum kisi ke saath bhi aise nahi karte ho but Nandini is also sweeter'' Aryaman said. ''Mujhe jaana hoga'' I said cutting him short. ''Ha I guess tum theek se so bhi nahi gaye honge, you go'' he said and I went out. I sat in my car and I cursed myself for acting so foolish. How can I cheat on Siya and how could I develop feelings for Nandini? I think I should stay away from Nandini, ye hum dono ke liye theek hai.

Nandini's POV:

''Good morning Nandini'' I heard a voice but couldn't open my eyes as sun rays hit me. ''Good morning'' I said opening my eyes. I expected Manik to be there but saw Aryaman. He came with a coffee cup. I took it but my eyes searched for Manik. ''Sab kuch clear hua?'' he asked me as I sipped coffee. ''Ha'' I said absentminded. ''Manik told me that you want to select your dubbing artist'' he said and I nodded. ''You know he promised me to be nicer to you'' he said. Manik was always nice to me, he always stood for me. I hope he will be with me in the next step I'm taking. I know this will hurt him but I have to do this. ''What about Navya and Cabir?'' I asked. ''I should open the door for them too, so you better hurry up'' he said and we rushed to open the door.

Aryaman opened the door. We were shocked would be an understatement. Cabir was standing away from Navya while she was in tears. We did not expect this after an eventful night. Cabir seemed to understand that we did it on purpose. He left from there without saying a word and I hugged Navya who is in tears. ''Lagta hai humara plan fail ho gaya'' Aryaman said. ''Navya, what happened between both of you, tumne usse baat kiya?'' I asked but Navya is not in a condition to answer me. She hugged me and cried inconsolably. She wiped her tears in a few minutes. ''He doesn't like me Nandini, I thought he was nervous to accept me or he was not ready to accept me in his life but I was wrong. He was never interested in me, I was just wasting my time around him'' she said. I remembered Manik's words. If it is yours it will come around, if it did not come around, it was never yours. Maybe Cabir never had feelings for Navya, agar yahi sach hai tho Navya shouldn't waste her time on him. 

I reached Dhruv's office and Manik had already called me twice to come for audition. He said he spoke to Dhruv that I would select my dubbing artist. I hope Manik will like the audio clip I sent him. ''Good morning Dhruv'' I wished him. ''Good morning Nandini, Manik had already sent me an audio file, I liked her voice'' Dhruv said. So half of my work is done. Manik did not speak anything. ''You can call her here so we can sign the agreement'' Dhruv said. ''I already called her here'' I said and called her inside. 

Manik's eyes popped out when I introduced Navya as the new dubbing artist.
