Chapter 89- Forever Humesha

Manik's POV:

''It's been two days Manik, you should eat something'' Siya said as she woke me up. I didn't know when I have fallen asleep last night. Doctors ne Nandini ke baare mein kuch nahi bataya. They said she did not respond to antidotes and Roshni is not able to figure out anything till now. Day by day, I can feel her falling weak. I wish Nandini open her eyes to see me. ''Manik'' Siya shook me again. ''Where are you staying now?'' I asked her. ''That is not your problem now, but come eat'' she asked me. ''Mujhe bhook nahi hai. I will eat later'' I denied. ''Aunty aur Mukti mujhe baar baar call kar rahe hai. I didn't pick up any of their calls as I didn't knew what to say'' she said. ''I will explain them everything once Nandini gets well'' I said. I realized that I didn't have my phone with me. They might have called me too. ''Manik, aise na khaane se kya Nandini theek ho jayegi?'' Siya insisted me to eat. ''Nandini ka pata nahi but tum zarur patient ban jaoge yaha, the other room is free anyway. You can get admitted here anyway'' Cabir said as he also got food for us.

''Did you get Roshni along with you?'' I asked with a last hope. ''Yes, she is talking to Nandini's gynaec'' Navya said. ''Roshni aur doctors ki kya zarurat hai abhi, I think we should beating Rohan blue and black can only solve this matter. Ye tumhara Gandhigiri ab kaam nahi karne wala hai'' Cabir said. ''Cabir, do you think I will let him go off this easily! Ab humare paas koi proof nahi hai, every step we take is important for Nandini. My only priority is Nandini for now. Let her get well first'' I said. Roshni and the lady doctor came along. ''Ek good news hai Mr. Malhotra, we have many times repeated the test but we did not scan, ek baar scan karne se ye clear ho jayega ki actual mein fetus hai ya nahi'' the doctor said. ''I'm tired of this now. At this point of time, I feel ki baby ho ya na ho, mujhe koi farak nahi padega. All I want is my wife, healthy and fine'' I said. ''Manik bhayya, please have some patience. This will be the last time I promise'' Roshni said. I nodded again but I was not willing to let Nandini go through all of this without even knowing about it. If Nandini is awake, she would have never let herself go through this.

They got the bedside scanner ready and moved it till Nandini's bed. ''I'll also be there, I cannot leave her alone'' I said and they readily agreed. Nandini was still lying there and they have just applied a gel on her lower stomach for the scan. I held her hand tightly. ''Koi pain nahi hoga'' the doctor said and I have forced a smile on my face. Roshni seemed to help the doctor and a radiologist also accompanied them. They whispered to each other and I would have died of curiosity if they hadn't talk to me in a minute. ''What's happening, is the baby and Nandini fine?'' I asked as I squeezed Nandini's hand. ''You were right, Mr. Malhotra. There is no baby here. She isn't pregnant'' they said. I didn't know whether I should feel happy or not. In these two days, I have made up my mind that this baby would bring us joy. I thought of convincing her to have this baby. Deep down, I do not know if Nandini knows about this baby or not but I have already developed a soft corner for my unborn and now non-existent baby.

''Phir wo sab reports?'' I have asked them. ''Someone might have injected her a dose of beta hcg hormone. Due to this, both urine test and blood test will show positive results for a non-pregnant woman, issi ko hum phantom pregnancy kehte hai'' the doctor said. ''Matlab ab Nandini pregnant nahi hai na'' I asked again. ''Absolutely but Nandini will still have all those symptoms same as a pregnant woman'' she said. I was so confused. ''Don't worry Mr. Malhotra, Nandini ab jaldi se theek bhi ho jayegi, we were actually worried to give her few antidotes as we thought she is pregnant. But now, wo jaldi se theek ho jayegi. Nandini, pregnant na hokar bhi sab pregnancy symptoms experience karegi until she has these injected hormones'' the doctor said. ''Isse koi side effect tho nahi hoga na'' I asked to confirm. ''Hum kuch medicine prescribe karenge, which will flush out these hormones and she will be fine in a month. But be careful, she might fall weak too soon in this process. You shall have to take care of her. She would need nutritious food, pleasant mood, good sleep and peace'' she said.

I was more than happy to hear it from the doctor. I will make sure to take care of Nandini like my baby. She not deserve this, but all the happiness in the world. Ab humare beech koi nahi aayega. The nurse had helped in changing Nandini's hospital gown and I brushed her hair to make her feel fresh. Ab tho wo kisi bhi minute uth kar kahegi that her hair is beyond damage repair. I also made sure to put on a moisturizer on her soft skin. ''Nandini hasn't eaten anything since 3 days, will she be feeling hungry when she wake up?'' I asked the nurse who was there. ''Ye IV fluids ki wajhe se unhe bhook nahi lagegi, thodi thakaan tho hoga'' she said smiling. I didn't knew what was so funny, but it is not wrong to ask the things which I never knew. ''Ab aap baahar wait kar sakte hai, main BP check karke chali jaungi'' she said. ''No, no. I will wait here until you are done'' I insisted to show me how she is measuring BP. I thought I should be aware of her medical condition until she is fully recovered. I have also asked her if she can help us at home until Nandini's recovery but she said that Nandini doesn't need any help hereafter.

She has completed her work and said that we should get out of this place and I came out along with her, only to be greeted by Aryaman. Aryaman! Why is he here? ''Nandini kaisi hai?'' he asked. ''She is doing good. Doctor said she will recover soon'' I cleared my throat before saying it. I saw only Navya and Cabir there but Siya is missing. ''Aunty, Mukti aur Abhimanyu are also here, you must go and meet them downstairs. Siya already went'' he said. Oh shit! I never expected them to fly down here. What would I say to mom now? I came out of that ward for the first time in the last three days. I have no energy left to argue with anyone now. I saw mom and Mukti sitting along with Siya. Mom hugged me as she saw me there. ''Why aren't you even picking the calls?'' Mukti said in a high pitched voice. ''Both of you have made fools out of us. Do you guys have any idea of what we were going through'' Mukti doesn't seem to listen to anyone. I have just hugged her to calm her down. ''Where is Abhimanyu?'' I asked her. ''He is at home, babysitting'' she said.

''Mom, you and Mukti, please go home. I will come and explain everything once Nandini gets fine'' I said. ''Manik'' mom tried to stop me but I chose not to speak anything now. Siya also stood silently there. I didn't have the courage to tell everything to mom. How would I tell mom that Dhruv was the one behind everything. How would I tell them that me and Siya never loved each other. Dhruv's truth would hurt them very much. "Nandini aur tumhare beech" mom couldn't even complete the sentence. "Nandini is my wife mom, we're married. I love her mom" I had finally mustered up courage to tell this. "Hum se ye sab kyu chupaya?" she asked.

"Aap log sun ne ke liye ready nahi the. Not just you, no one including me was ready for this. Maine Siya ko bhi abhi bataya" I said. "Then you thought it would be appropriate to get married and have babies because no one was ready to listen to you" mom seemed to lose her temper. "She is going to be the mother of your child and that is the only reason I came to see you both. Warna main kabhi tum dono ko maaf nahi karti. I just want my family in one place now. Abhimanyu and Mukti, they are also shifting to India"  she said. "But we are not coming home. We are staying at farmhouse mom'' I said. ''Tho tum ghar bhi nahi aaoge kya?'' mom asked me. ''Nandini needs my love and care mom, I can't put her in such situations where she is being judged all the time. Please let us stay there, We will get back if needed'' I said. Mom has nothing to say. I could successfully send them home but Aryaman stayed back with us and he sat near Nandini by the time I came back. 

''So you both are together'' he asked. ''Yes, I don't know how you would take it if I say that to you'' I said. I felt so light after letting everyone know about me and Nandini. ''I'm surely happy for both of you. I mean I never thought you guys can be together. I admire both of you, but it's like you were actually two opposite poles'' he said. ''And they say opposites attract'' I smiled. ''I guess main tum dono ke beech ke misunderstandings ke wajha hu'' Aryaman said. He hugged me and apologized for everything. 

As doctors said, Nandini woke up the next day. It is almost like a rebirth not just to her but to both of us. For our love too....And we will be together forever, humesha.
