This does have words in my language (Filipino), but there's always Translate, right?

You're reading on the couch, while Gia plays on the floor with the toys she received for Christmas. Your wife is at the store, and had promised to be back after a few minutes.

Out of your periphery, you spot Gia heading to the bookshelves on the other side of the room. You think nothing of it, thinking she'll probably only reach for her picture books, but when she comes back to the rug in front of you, she's looking up at you with curious blue eyes.

You set your book aside.

"Mommy! Mommy! Who's this po?" She holds up a faded picture.

You smile. "Where did you get this, 'nak?" You gently take it from her as she climbs onto the couch beside you.

"I found it in your favourite book po. Nakaipit sa pages. Who is she?" she asks, now slightly more impatient.

You bite your lip, your smile growing wider the longer you stare at the picture. "She's Mommy's greatest love, anak," you tell her, tilting the picture towards her slightly.

Gia, shocked, exclaims, "Really? What's her name?"

You chuckle. "Taylor."

She gasps, kicking her legs. "That's Mommy!?"

Soft laughter filled the room, and arms wrap around your neck from behind, lips pressing to your temple.

"Yup. That's me from when I was younger; when Mommy and I first met. Ganda ko, 'di ba?"

"Yes po!"

"Eh, ngayon? Mommy's not pretty anymore." She laughs slightly.

You turn your head and lean back to see Taylor's blue eyes staring into yours.

She kisses you softly.

"Maganda ka pa rin naman 'til now, mahal," you mumble against her lips.

"Ikaw 'yun, eh."

Gia seems to have finished examining the photo, and is now whining for you to tell her more, "Mommies!" she says, dragging the word out. "Tell me more! What happened on the day na nagkita kayo?"

"Well, my love." Taylor pauses. She joins you on the couch and drapes an arm over your shoulder as she sits beside you. She continues softly, tracing patterns on your thigh with her other hand, "Your Mommy and I met at a café malapit sa BGC, you know where that is, 'di ba?"

You lean into Taylor as Gia nods, listening attentively.

"Your Mommy was studying at the café kasi she was in college pa n'on, and I accidentally spilled coffee on Mommy's laptop." Taylor pauses after "accidentally", emphasising the word. Gia looks confused.

You laugh. "'Nak, Mommy just won't admit kasi na she only spilled her coffee-allegedly, accidentally-on my laptop to get my attention," you explain.

Taylor swats your arm playfully and laughs like a little kid. "I did not! I was just... um..." She looks around, her foot tapping on the ground.

You raise your eyebrows, looking at her expectantly.

Finally, she sighs and dramatically throws her head back. "Sige na, okay? Yes, I spilled my coffee on Mommy's laptop to get her attention."

You laugh triumphantly. "Sabi na nga ba, eh!"

She looks down, fidgeting with her fingers on her lap.

"Drama queen," you tease her, turning towards her and gently hooking your finger under her chin, making her look up at you.

You smile and peck her cheek, earning a smile and a giggle from Gia.
