After a long blink, William claps me on the back to get my attention. Following him over to a table. I sit down with him, Chase, and Hunter. William has his portfolio with a legal pad and pen on the table. As well as, a voice recorder.
'We need to put your statements together about how you 3 arrived at the scene and what followed. As much detail as possible is appreciated. Once we get this together, I will be able to give the police your statement of events on your behalves. However, they may ask you additional follow-up questions. First Hunter, then Chase, and finish with River. Everyone ready?' William asks.
We all nod and Hunter begins giving his statement. William asks a few questions. Hunter took a little less than 10 minutes. Now it's Chase's turn. Again, he takes about 10 minutes to give William everything he needs.
When it's my turn, I give as much detail as I can. Starting when I heard the first crash at 3:17 pm while I was inside the stadium. To the phone call from the female officer. To watching Briar get cut out of the car. To finally when I walked into this room for the first time.
Satisfied with the information he received. William places his portfolio and voice recorder into his fancy-ass briefcase (it's pretty cool and has a fingerprint scanner). He locks it and asks Monica to hold it for him. William then goes over to check the status of the media statement and by the looks of the table, it must be complete.
'River, would you like to read over this?' William asks.
Shaking my head. 'I trust you.' And I do. I really lucked out with my management team. Thank you, William.
After he chats with that table for a brief moment, he comes back over to the table I'm at with Veronica in toe. 'It's a great statement, you will be happy with it. They are going to release it shortly.' He assures me.
'Ok. Thank you for getting a management team together for me. I really appreciate it.' I tell him.
Smiling he says. 'Don't mention it. I'm actually really excited for this opportunity. And just so you know, Veronica and Ashley are always able to help and willing to jump in when you need them.'
I smile and nod to acknowledge what he told me.
'Now for a very uncomfortable conversation. Let me and Veronica handle most of the talking. Ready?'
Uh, sure? What the fuck are we doing?
Getting up from my seat, I follow them to a table where Coach Harvey is sitting with 3 unknown people, at least I don't know them.
'Coach.' I shake his hand and then sit in the chair he offers me. After everyone is sitting, William takes a deep breath and begins introductions. I can tell that he is agitated but still maintains his professionalism.
'River, I will introduce to you Mr. & Mrs. Reynolds, and their attorney Harry London. They are here today to represent Austin Reynolds.' He says with concern or is that anger in his voice? Hmmm, that's why he's agitated.
My eyes snap to William's and we have a silent conversation. What the fuck is this?!
'Hello, River Blankenship.' I state dryly.
'River, this is going to be a tough conversation. Let us know if, at any time, you need to take a break.' Veronica tells me.
I give her a nod in understanding.
'Mr. London has submitted on behalf of his clients a deal they would like you to consider for the arrest and conviction for the crimes of Austin Reynolds.
First, Austin Reynolds is currently detained and charged with the LAPD for his involvement in the accident that occurred on Thursday, August 10th at approximately 3:16 pm.
