'Is this for fucking real?!' I ask as soon as I hear William answer the phone.

'Ah, I guess you got a life-changing call. Is that right, little brother?' William laughs a little as I start to pace in between mine and Hunter's cars.

'Coach Sean McVay just called me and told me that YOU gave him my number. William, what the fuck is happening?!'

'Ok, ok. Calm down. Yes, the Núñez Brothers and I have been working with Coach McVay all week to see if any of this is possible. It is. I have looked through all your current contracts, spoke with the Dean of Students, and have started negotiations on a potential contact for the LA Rams. The ball is in your court, Riv. What else do you want to know before you speak with my sister about this?' He tells me.

'How did you know I haven't spoken with Briar already?' I ask him, curious about his answer.

'Because you wouldn't dare put an ounce of stress on my pregnant sister before you had more details about the situation. This is a serious, life-changing decision. I'm glad you called so we can talk through this.' He says as I stop my pacing and lean against my truck again.

'This is really possible?' I ask.

'Yes. This opportunity is really possible.' He answers with what sounds like a smile on his face.

'How would this work with school? I would hate to make it a month or so before the semester ends and I'm unable to get that piece of paper I have worked so hard for.' I tell him.

This is an extremely important milestone for me, to be a college graduate. I know that I don't necessarily need a degree to pursue my NFL dream but I want it. I want that sense of accomplishment that will come with receiving that foil-encrusted document. I want to feel like I am more than just a football player.

'Dean said that since you are so close to finishing, he will speak with your professors and see if they will provide the option for you to test-to-complete their courses. He said that it shouldn't be an issue but it will be at the discretion of each professor. If you are allowed this option, then you will be provided the exams by the end of next week.'

'Ok, that's a relief. I'm glad that my hard work in my studies might not turn out to be for nothing.'

'I know that completing your education and receiving your degree is a big deal to you. That's why I am pleased with the Dean's response. He has been extremely helpful with Briar and now, yourself.' He is right. I'm glad he is willing to help us. William and the Dean of Students.

'What about football? The season isn't over yet, I'd hate to leave the Trojan team high and dry.' I ask, concerned. I don't want my team to suffer if I were to take this opportunity.

After a little laugh, William answers me. 'Coach Harvey said you would be cut from the team if you didn't take this job. He said he would find a way to make it so you breached your contract and he will cut you.'

'Yeah, that sounds like Coach.' I laugh a little.

Wow, this might actually be possible. When Coach McVay first said he wanted me to come play for him, the whole idea seemed absolutely impossible. If all the logistics fall together, then all I need to do now is talk with Brair.

'Alright, let's say I accept the offer, what's next? How would this work with me starting?' These are some details that I need to know before I decide.

'Well, Coach McVay wants you suited up for next Sunday's game, at home against the Seattle Seahawks. The Rams are on a bye this week, so there is little wiggle room to play with. Now, before you say it, I already talked to the Coaches. I know you will want to play in the UCLA game next Saturday. It would be a hell of a game to end your Trojan career, at home and against your rival.
