While Thalia was in her own little world with her imps Maxius started to get down to business with the group of beings gathered around them. He knew she was listening though. There was no way she wouldn't. She would want to know what was going on. She wasn't going to talk and he knew that too.
"Has anyone heard anything about Ezekiel and his pack? Like where his pack is or anything like that." Maxius asked. There was a lot of talking over one another. "Enough one at a time. Coleman you first."
"I haven't heard anything yet. The last time I saw him was three years ago when he wanted me to join the pack because of what I am. I turned him down swiftly though. There was no way I was going to join him. I was created out of love not force. What he is trying to do is wrong on so many levels."
"That's right you are a hybrid. How do we know we can trust you." This came from Shade. Shade was a vampire.
"First off I have known Maxius longer than all of you. We grew up together. I grew up in the vampire community not in a pack. When I was born vampires weren't welcomed in packs. The vampires are more accepting." Coleman said.
"There will be no in fighting. I know each and everyone of you. I trust all of you or you wouldn't be here." Maxius said.
Then there was more talk about trust and how all shifters and the hybrids needed to be watched by the vampires. Then the talk of the imps not needing to be here. That they would just get in the way.
"The imps stay. I rather have the imps here than all of you." Thalia chimed in finally. She wasn't going to have the imps pushed out of the way. "First off I can take care of myself. I have done it for the last year. I had no one. So just remember I do not need you. All I really need is Maxius and the imps. Now if you don't stop arguing we will start to have issues."
"Damn, you tell them girl." Traynora said. "All the high handed vamps are getting on my nerves. There might be more of them. However they keep forgetting about us witches. Isn't that right? We are not weak and can do more than fight with our hands and weapons." she added lifting her hand and making a lamp float off of the end table next to her.
Then Cade lifted the whole recliner he was sitting on in the air. Then Psyche did more than all of them. She lifted the couch with everyone on it. They did this just to prove their points.
"Better watch flexing your powers. Ezekiel might come after you guys next." Bellatrix said.
"He wouldn't be able to hold us." Psyche said, sitting the couch back on the floor with a slight thud.
"Back to the subject at hand. Does anyone know where Ezekiel is?" Maxius asked.
"The last thing I heard he was back in Texas. We really need to send out scouts. I think that would be a smart thing to do. Maybe have someone infiltrate the enemy."
That was a very bad idea Maxius thought. They couldn't afford anyone to get caught and he would never ask anyone to sacrifice their life for this. "That's not a good idea." he said out loud.
"This is all crazy." Maxius heard Thalia mutter. "There are just too many people."
She might be on point, maybe he really did over do it with all of these people. He just felt like they had a better chance with more numbers on their side. Then everyone was talking over each other again. Really what the hell was he thinking.
"Shut up." Thalia said. "Shut the fuck up." When that didn't work she threw one of her knives and planted it in the wall next to the door. When everyone finally shut up she added. "Now that I have your attention. This whole in house fighting is going to stop. It will stop this fucking instance. I am sick of it. First with Liliana. Now with everyone. It is getting old. We need to be on the same page and not divided. So get it the fuck together. And do it now."
Now Maxius was surprised. She just made everyone shut their mouths. It was so quiet you could hear a pin drop on the floor. He didn't even think anyone was breathing. That was a really good speech though. He was so glad she was the one that did it. She wasn't some wilting flower. She could really handle herself.
"Now that everyone is quiet. The infiltrate thing is out the window. I won't do it. We can possibly send out scouts. I will not just send people out. You have to volunteer. If no one does, no one goes. That's all there is to it. And Thalia is right. We really need to stop fighting each other. There is no call for it."
"I agree. I already have an informant in Ezekiel's pack. I am just waiting to hear from them. I heard from them two days ago. They were still in Texas trying to regroup." Cazmir said.
"What is your infromants name?" Liliana ased.
"His name is Jace." Cazmir said. "He has been in the pack for a year. He said they are set on getting Thalia. Said she was the best option. She is too strong for her own good. That he wants to be the one to finally break her spirit. It is more than just the breeding he wants her for. Something about her parents. Saying they led a coven of vampires there and killed a bunch of their people. He said her parents took everything from him so he was going to do that to them."
"My parents would never do something like that without a reason. They wouldn't just attack someone. I know they wouldn't." Thalia said.
"Actually they had a reason. They were trying to take more land from the coven. Plus they are the one that started the battle. They were the ones that won though. And they decimated their pack. Killing hundreds." Vander said. "I was part of the army that did it. We had every right to do it though. They were stealing women and killing our males."
Thalia didn't know what to think about that. She was devastated she knew that much. They have been running ever since she had been born for this. Why didn't they just stay with the coven. Guess she would never know. She wanted to know though. She needed to know. But now was not the time to ask. She wondered if Maxius knew the answer.
"I need to go to the room and be alone for a little while. I am taking the imps though." Thalia said. That was when Ivy and Mai joined them. Then the imps took off from her shoulders and followed her to the room.
Waiting for her to be out of earshot Maxius said. "Vander why did you have to bring that up. She didn't need to know that. She never needed to know that."
"I am sorry." Vander said. "I thought she knew. If I knew she didn't know I never would have brought it up."
"Good job Vander. Just great." Ajax said. "Like she needed to know her parents led a group of vampires to decimate a group of shifters. Even if they did deserve it."
"She needed to know how vicious this group of shifters are though. So at least she knows that now."
