At the tower they met up with everyone else. They had Tryx, Thyme and Tatum in tow. Maxius couldn't wait to see Ezekiel's face. But most of all he was worried about Thalia. She seemed to be handling the whole demon thing pretty well however she could just be hiding it. He knew she would have questions for him too. He really hoped that Ezekiel didn't bring up the demon thing. He wanted to be the one to answer her questions about it. Like what it meant for her. Once they were out in the hall they walked quietly to the exit then they were getting into the car.
"I need to talk to Coleman when we get time. I have some questions for him." Thalia said.
Ouch that hurt. He wanted to be the one she turned to. Not some other man. And why Coleman. They barely said hello to each other. "Ok. I will see when he has time to talk. Do you want to ask me some questions on the ride over to the tower?"
"Just one. What does this mean for me? Am I different now?"
"No Thalia you are the same as you have always been. You just know what you are now. Nothing has changed for you. However you should actually try eating. It would be good for your demon side." Maxius answered.
"Food? God I don't even like the smell of food. Yuck." she said sticking her tongue out at him.
At least she seemed a little normal. Other than wanting to talk to Coleman. He wondered how Coleman was going to feel about being questioned. He was the quiet one of the group. He never said much to anyone. However he was smart and that is who Thalia wanted to talk to he wouldn't stand in her way.
"Anything else you want to know?" He asked, trying to get her to talk.
"Nope that is all for now. I'll have more questions later after I talk to Coleman. I want to ask him what it is like to be a half breed."
Oh thank fuck. She just wanted someone with half breed blood to explain to her what it is like. He was happy about that. He really thought it was going to be about something else. He felt like such a sap for being worried about it. At least now he could relax a bit.
"I will talk to Coleman once we see him."
"The Thalia. The Thalia. Are you really the demon? Like the real real demon?" Thyme asked, from her spot perched on her shoulder.
"Well I guess I am. Does that make me different to you?"
"No. We love the Thalia." Tryx said from her other shoulder.
"Yep. We love the Thalia." Tatum chimed in from the spot where he was cradled in Thalia's arms. He still wasn't back to full health yet.
"Well I am so glad to hear that. I was kind of worried you guys would see me differently. It is nice to know you guys don't."
Hell maybe that was all she was worried about. She was scared to see how people were going to handle her being different. Even though she was still the same. She was just a half breed now.
Then he glanced over at her. She was so beautiful. She had her raven hair pulled up in a haphazard ponytail. Her slightly large uptilted grey eyes were lined in black. Her lips were a slight pink color. Plus she was clad in all that leather and all her knives and her length of chain. And still she was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. And nothing was going to change that.
"What are you looking at?" Thalia asked.
Damn it he must have kept looking her way. "Oh you know. This and that." he teased with a cheshire grin.
Then she reached over and play slapped him on the arm. "What were you looking at? And don't say nothing. I want to know."
"Oh you know just admiring the view." he reached over and grabbed her hand and kissed it.
"The ew that's the gross." Tryx said. "You don't the do that. Ew just the eww."
"You only say that because you haven't met your mate yet Tryx. Wait until you meet her. Then you will get it."
"The never. I the never want the mate. Just the ew." then Tryx leaned over and kissed Thalia on the cheek.
"I thought you said it was the ew." Thalia said.
"It is when the Maxius does it." Tryx said. "But the I still don't want the mate. The mates are for the chumps." He added glaring at Maxius. "The chumps."
"Oh he called you a chump." Thalia teased.
Then the mood lightened a lot. That last comment must have gone over her head. Or she hasn't put two and two together yet. He really didn't know if she was ready for that talk yet. She might bolt. He didn't know how she felt yet. He was really happy though with the shit headed little imp. Actually he was happy with all of them. He was glad that they could cheer Thalia up when she was feeling down and stressed. Plus how could she not be stressed. With everything that had happened the last twenty four hours. The imps were a godsend.
The rest of the ride to the tower was uneventful. Everyone was chilled out and probably stuck in their own heads. The most stressful part was still to come. They were about to go and question Ezekiel. He couldn't get the thing he said about a secret out of his head. He wanted to know what the secret was. He needed to know. What if other people were going to be coming after Thalia. He really hoped that wasn't the case. She deserved to live her life the way she chose. She deserved not to have to run for her life day in and night out. Not that he wouldn't defend her if that was the case.
When they finally got to the tower. They head for the reception area. This time there was a big burly looking guy behind the desk. Guess they were afraid of retaliation just in case they didn't get everyone that was in their group. Plus there still might be a traitor in the mix. Someone must have told him where they were at. Unless they were followed.
"We're going up." Maxius said to the reception man.
"You're cleared." He responded.
Then they were ascending in the elevator. He really hoped all went well once they got to the top floor. They wanted to get all the necessary stuff out of the way where they could get to the bottom level and start questioning Ezekiel. However he knew they needed to do a run down before then. They needed to discuss what was going to happen and by who. He needed to tell them that Thalia gets to question the shifter first. Man he really hoped he was awake. He needed him to be awake.
Once they made it to the top floor. They were greeted by everyone. And everyone cheered for Thalia. Turning to look at her she had a slight blush up her high cheekbones.
"Uh there is no reason to cheer for me. All I did was get kidnapped. However, thank you all for coming and saving me and Psyche." She said, turning to look at the other woman. "You saved the both of us."
After her little speech he leaned down and kissed her on the top of the head. Then he whispered. "I think they are just happy we got to you guys in time."
Then they were all sitting at the long conference table. All of their people and Xavier and his three main men. Then it was time to get down to business.
"Who wants to start?" Xavier asked.
"I do." Maxius said. "The first thing I want to clear up is Thalia and I will be the first ones to question Ezekiel. She deserves it. She was the one he wanted. Secondly we need to figure out if we have a traitor or if we were followed."
"I can answer that one." Thalia said. "When he had me he said he was getting updates from someone every hour. I don't know if he meant one of his people or one of ours though. Nevertheless someone was keeping him informed. Or they never would have gotten us. There is no way they would have."
"I will make sure it is one of the first questions I ask him." Maxius growled, looking at everyone at the table. He honestly didn't believe there was a traitor in the group but you could never tell.
"I think that is a good idea. I think Thalia and you go down first and see what you can get out of him." Xavier said. "Everyone else split up and question his followers. And I want everyone in pairs. No one goes alone."
"Where are they being kept?" Thalia asked.
"They are all in the basement in cells. They will all be kept there until we can see if they are true followers of Ezekiel. Some of them could have just joined the cause because they were strong armed into doing it."
"Well come on Maxius. We need to get to the basement and start the questioning. I am so ready to do this. I want answers and I want them now." Thalia said.
Like he could deny her. His main goal was to keep her happy. So Maxius walked up to her and took her hand. Then they were heading for the elevator. Once inside he kept a hold of her hand. He needed to keep touching her. He still couldn't believe that she was with him and she was safe. That she wasn't still hurt.
"Thalia, I am so glad you are with me." he said, leaning down and kissing her on the top of the head.
"I am glad I am with you too. I will still have questions for you later. So don't forget. And I still want to talk to Coleman."
"I meant to ask. How come you want to talk to Coleman?"
"He is a half breed and I want to know what that means for me as a half breed. Like is stuff going to change for me? Like how people treat me when they find out. I know you and our imps don't care but how about everyone else. Are they going to care? Are they going to look at me different? Just those types of questions. He is the only half breed in our group so I knew I could ask him."
"But he is a different type of half breed. He is a vampire shifter. He is completely different than you. He took on more of the vampire aspects so he can't actually fully shift. He can only partially shift. So what he goes through is going to be different from yours."
"That's ok. It won't hurt to ask him." She finished. Then the door to the elevator was opening and they were stepping out hand in hand.
