Watching Thalia in the cell with her he was having a nervous breakdown. He knew he was chained to the table but that didn't change anything. He wanted to be in there to support her. There was nothing he wouldn't do for her.
"Fine. He can come in. you both will want to hear the next two." Maxius heard him say.
Then Maxius was at the door and heading inside. He walked right up behind Thalia and put his hands on her shoulders for support.
"Ok we are done playing your games. What is the secret you were talking about in the field?" Maxius demanded.
"Oh wouldn't you want to know. It is a good one too. This little secret. Well actually it is a big secret. And for this I know you will keep me alive." Ezekiel taunted.
"What the hell is it?" Thalia said.
Maxius was tired of playing his games. So he walked right up to him and punched him in the mouth. "We are done playing." Then he hit him again. Then again.
"Alright alright. Are you ready? I don't think you are. This will change everything." Maxius hit him again. "Ok damn it. Ok. So the thing is her parents are still alive. I have kept them alive this whole time."
"You are lying. They died. I was there. They died. I would have never left my parents if they were alive." Thalia said hysterically. "They died. I know they did. I saw it happen. I saw it." That is when Thalia hit him the first time. She hit him four times in quick succession. "You bastard."
Holy hell. Could her parents really be alive. Maxius truly hoped so. But he didn't trust Ezekiel to be telling the truth. He would say anything to stay alive. He didn't want to die.
"Where are they then?" Maxius asked. "We want to know where they are."
"If I tell you you will just kill me. I know you will. If I tell you there will be no reason to keep me alive."
That is true but they could always get the answers from one of his followers. They would flip on him soon enough. Then they would have answers to all of the questions. Every last one.
"I have a question. Why me?" Maxius heard Thalia say.
"To torment your parents. That is why. They saw you today. They stood there chained and gagged and they cried every time I did something to you. Every hit. Every caress. Then they looked proud when you took that punishment for that witch you call a friend. That is something they would have done."
"I don't believe you. You ass hole. You're lying." Thalia screamed.
Then she was heading out the door. He wished she wouldn't let Ezekiel get to her. She was giving him everything that he wanted. He wanted her worked up. He wanted her distraught and what better way to do that than to say her parents watched her get beat. There was no way to tell if he was telling the truth or not. The only thing they could do was wait and see.
"Is there anything else you have to say before we leave." Maxius asked.
"No. I will tell you you will be back."
With that Maxius exited the door and shut it behind him. He didn't leave until he heard the locks click into place. Then him and Thalia were standing on the other side of the cell.
"We need to look in all the cells and see if any of them are your parents. They could be here. There is no way he could have hid them if they were there when he was beating you." Maxius told her. Then he was bringing her into his strong embrace and holding her tight. "It is all going to be ok."
"How?" She asked.
That he didn't know how to answer. He just knew they would make it through this. They had to. Then he remembered he didn't ask who the informant was. God damn it. He said to himself. God damn it. It was too late now. He would come back later once Thalia was settled.
"Just watch. It will all be ok."
Then they headed down the corridor looking into each cell. None of them held Thalia's parents. For all they knew Ezekiel had lied about everything. He knew he lied about there being more female vampire demon hybrids. He had only heard of one being born. Thalia was it. He had met some male ones but none other than that. Maybe he was lying about it all.
"They aren't here. Why aren't they here? Where are my imps? I need to see them."
"They are in the conference room. We will go and see them now."
Then they were in the elevator Thalia wrapped her arms around his waist and just leaned in to him. He needed the comfort also it had been a long day. There was still much to do though. They really needed to find out if her parents were really alive. Plus he needed to make sure she was taken care of. This day had to be one of the worst days of her life. Plus all the not knowing has to be hard too. The not knowing part was even hard on him.
"Do you really think he kept my parents alive?" Thalia asked in a small voice. "How could they still be alive. Surely he would have just killed them."
"I really don't know sweetling. I really don't know. We will find out though. I don't know how yet but we will. I promise."
He really hoped he could hold up that end of things. She deserved to have her parents. Hell the world deserved to have her parents. They were some of the best people he had ever met. They always did the right thing no matter what. That could be the reason he had kept them alive. To prove that evil trumps saints. If only Ezekiel would have won today would that be true though. He almost did though didn't he. He had gotten Thalia and took Psyche as collateral. He could have easily won. Especially if they all hadn't come together like they did.
"I really hope they are alive. Then I also hope they aren't. Could you imagine the hell they have been through the last year? I don't want my parents to be tortured in such a manner. And I had only had to deal with it for a few hours. Could you imagine going through that for a year?" Thalia ranted.
"I couldn't imagine. I just hope they are alive for your sake. You deserve to have parents. Your parents were some of the best people I had ever met. We will find out one way or another though. We will start that task as soon as we can."
When his phone chimed he pulled it out of his pocket. He had a message from Cazmir. He read it quickly and stuck his phone back into his pocket. He didn't want Thalia to see the message. Not yet anyways. He really needed to get her up to the conference room. Maybe her talk with Coleman will do her some good. Hell maybe he could find her a demon vampire for her to talk to. Or maybe just a demon. She deserved to talk to someone like herself.
Then they were exiting the elevator on the floor with the conference room. Once they came through the door Thalia was attacked by imps. Maxius couldn't help but to laugh. They were as happy to see her as she was to see them. She finally smiled.
"Oh the Thalia. We have the story to tell. We have the story." Thyme said.
"No I am the telling it." Tatum said.
"The nope. I am the telling it." Tryx said.
Maxius just let them carry on with Thalia. He needed to go and talk to Coleman and Cazmir. He figured he should talk to Cazmir first. It was going to be awhile before Thalia would get away from the imps to make it to talk to Coleman. He would let him no though. He didn't want Coleman blide sided. He really did.t talk much.
Walking up to Cazmir he pulled him to the side. "Are you sure?" he said in a whisper. He didn't want Thalia to overhear.
"I am positive." Cazmir whispered. "It doesn't look good though."
