Chapter 37

Shen Qingqiu woke up feeling a lot better. Instead of having his back to Yue Qingyuan, his face was now nicely nestled against Yue Qingyuan's chest. That was truly the best after waking up. Everything Shen Qingqiu needed in the morning: warmth of an embrace and inhaling his husband's scent with every inhale. 

Content lyrics, Shen Qingqiu tried to snuggle even closer to Yue Qingyuan, but he soon realized that something between them was obstructing him. With a confused frown, he reached down underneath the blanket until his hand hit something warm and fuzzy that had positioned itself directly between their stomachs.

Even before the something started to purr, Shen Qingqiu understood that it was A-Ba who obviously had deemed the spot right between them as an adequate sleeping spot. She couldn't be blamed however. It was certainly a cozy and warm place. Something that cats definitely loved.

Shen Qingqiu patted her head with his fingertips and relaxed back against Yue Qingyuan's chest. Yue Qingyuan seemed to stir a little through the moments. He tightened his hold on Shen Qingqiu a bit, but more than that he didn't move much.

For some reason it always seemed to be a struggle to get out of bed. Even after both of them had woken up, they were unwilling to get up. It was always just too comfortable. Sometimes they even managed to fall asleep again like this, though this caused them to have to work more in the evening, but it was definitely worth it.

A-Ba also seemed to enjoy sleeping away her day, purring happily as she did at the moment. Shen Qingqiu quite liked this. Even though he could have done without the placeholder between him and his husband, she didn't take up much space and he could easily still cuddle with Yue Qingyuan.

Of course Shen Qingqiu knew that they probably should get up soon since the meeting would be in a short amount of time and they couldn't go there unkempt. Though it might lighten the mood if they trotted into the hall, looking like they just peeled themselves out of their blankets. Despite having to go soon, Shen Qingqiu would still like to wait at least until Yue Qingyuan had fully woken up. Currently that man was still breathing all deeply, his arm holding on to Shen Qingqiu without much conscious force.

At least that was the case up until a few moments ago, when suddenly Yue Qingyuan tightened his hold around Shen Qingqiu, practically clinging on to him. Shen Qingqiu personally didn't have a problem with this, but A-Ba who immediately got squeezed between the two did. She let out a surprised noise and began struggling in a panicked manner.

Shen Qingqiu immediately grabbed her by the fur of her neck and pulled her out onto the blanket where she started shaking out her fur quickly. When that was done, he looked back at Yue Qingyuan who was now finally blinking open his eyes and as soon as they fell on him he started to caress Shen Qingqiu's hair and face.

"What's wrong? Did you dream of something bad?" Shen Qingqiu asked worriedly.

"I've dreamt of something I've forgotten," Yue Qingyuan replied quietly, "When I didn't know who you were I did something unforgivable and I never even really thought about what I've done. Right now I'd really like to cut off my hand for that…"

"Wait, what is this about now?" Shen Qingqiu asked confusedly, "What did you do?"

"I've hit you…" Yue Qingyuan whispered.

Shen Qingqiu opened his mouth to form an 'O'. To be honest, he had actually forgotten about that already. He had not expected Yue Qingyuan to bring that up again or that this would follow the man into a dream. Shen Qingqiu didn't want Yue Qingyuan to feel bad about this. He knew that that hadn't been purposefully, so why should he make a problem out of it?

"Forget about it. You were confused and felt threatened. I would have reacted the same way. And even then you were still very gentle to me and apologized. So please don't cut off your hand. I still need it," Shen Qingqiu said and turned his head to give the hand that was still caressing his cheek a little kiss, "Also legally my property."
