The way home was a bit awkward for Su Binghe. For Shen Wannian not so much. While the younger man was very nervous about what was going to happen that evening, the other seemed to have forgotten entirely and instead was chatting about how wonderful he felt the day had been, while holding Su Binghe's hand happily.

Su Binghe's cheeks were redder than his gowns the closer they were to home. He had the feeling that Shen Wannian had really forgotten about this. It was funny. Before, Shen Wannian had been wondering if Su Binghe really wanted him like that and he had been too disturbed to do anything. Now he had been so prepared for this day and even been kind of excited about it and Shen Wannian was the one who appeared like he was not sharing the sentiment.

But what was Su Binghe to do? He could not exactly mention anything now, could he? Well, he could, but that would be even more embarrassing. It was just that Su Binghe knew that he would have to say something eventually if he really wanted to be intimate with Shen Wannian. At least he thought so.

Su Binghe had wanted to wait until they had gone inside to talk about that topic, but before they even went inside, Shen Wannian stopped. In the time it took Su Binghe to have his inner conflict, he had not realized that Shen Wannian, upon seeing their nicely decorated door, had also started to get more nervous.

In truth, the young man had not forgotten at all what they had been planning on doing that night. It was just that he was not one to become quiet when he was uncertain or anxious. He just started talking and talking to distract himself until the moment came when he could no longer pretend that he was not bothered.

He really got so embarrassed just thinking about Su Binghe noticing that he wasn’t all calm and chill about this. Shen Wannian had to be all strong and manly after all now. Quickly he cleared his throat and smoothed out his loose, red outer robe before straightening his sleeves.

Su Binghe looked over nervously. It wasn’t hard for him to spot the redness of the tips of Shen Wannian’s ears, even in the dim light of the moon and the lanterns that lit the path to the place Shen Qingqiu had organized for them. For some reason, seeing that the other man felt just like him, calmed Su Binghe a lot.

With the rising of his confidence, the young man reached out to hug Shen Wannian’s arm to his chest. Although Shen Wannian was a little shorter than him, this didn’t have any less of the intended effect.

“A-Yuan, I’m not scared about it anymore,” Su Binghe assured, “I’ve been thinking about it so much that I got a bit nervous, but that’s not all I feel. My stomach, it tingles so much. I think I…want you…”

Shen Wannian swallowed. In his mind he saw a scene of a lightly dressed Binghe, seductively shooting an arrow, tipped with a heart shaped arrowhead, right into his heart. He couldn’t help but feel hot all over. Su Binghe in his innocence likely had no idea what he had just done to him.

“I don’t want to embarrass myself in front of you…” Shen Wannian couldn’t help but mumble, “What if I’m really bad? Or it…gets cut short?”

Su Binghe didn’t really understand what exactly Shen Wannian meant, but it would have changed nothing about his answer. “It’s not a problem,” he promised, “I love you the way you are. I also love it when you are not perfect. It makes me feel very close to you. I would be too scared that I would be the one to mess up if you were flawless. I don’t have many demands for tonight. I just want you. And I want you to hold me…”

Shen Wannian breathed in shakily. Once more he had to swallow past his dry mouth. Carefully, he put his arm around his newly wedded husband. After placing a long kiss to the man’s temple, he bowed down a little to put his other arm under Su Binghe's knees.
