When Luo Binghe had reached Tianlang-jun's palace in the demon realm roughly two weeks ago, his eyes had been burning and swollen from crying non-stop. He had been all alone in a carriage with Tianlang-jun this whole time. Only when arriving, he had been reunited with his friends.
Ning Wanliang hurried to him, as soon as she spotted him. Behind her were the others, looking just as worried as she did.
"Bingbing, what's going on? Why are you looking like you've been crying rivers?" she asked quickly.
"T...they're all going to die," Luo Binghe blurted out almost inaudibly before starting to cry again.
"What are you saying? Don't you have faith in Shizun? He is a great fighter, remember?" Ning Wanliang said calmly.
That made Luo Binghe cry even more. "They...are..n't figh...ting..." he sobbed, "No one will."
"Wait, what are you saying?" Shen Wannian was genuinely shocked. Not fighting? Were they just going to let themselves be killed?
"Shizun...I heard..." Luo Binghe said, "That's...why we were all sent away."
"You can't be serious," Ning Wanliang blurted out, "They wouldn't... But... Even if we go back now, what can we do? Change their minds? Would we even make it in time to try?"
"I don't care if we do," Luo Binghe said stubbornly, "I am trying."
Before anyone could say something, he had already gone for the entrance gate. Not unexpectedly, he was caught almost immediately by a huge demon. The heavily armored soldier of Tianlang-jun's picked him up like he was weighing nothing and raised him up to his face.
"His Lordship warned this subject that the little Lord might want to run back," he stated, "The little Lord is not allowed to."
Luo Binghe fiercely tried to punch the demon, who was almost five times his size. Naturally to no avail. When he was just dropped like a wet bag of rice, he went for the demon's knees and tried to kick them. The demon didn't even flinch and just let the kid power itself out before picking him up again to bring him into his designated bedroom.
"The little Lord should stay here. You understand why?" the demon asked Shen Wannian, who had been following immediately.
"There is nothing he can do about how things are. I know," he replied, "I am going to look after him."
"Good. We can't have another runaway that we need to search for," the demon said seriously, "We need to keep this place safe after all."
"Another runaway?" Shen Wannian asked, frowning slightly.
"Peak Lord Shen's cat," the demon soldier explained, "The moment we let her out inside of her room, she went into hiding. Once someone opened the door to bring her fresh food and to clean the room, she slipped out. We found the tracking talisman we have tucked under her ribbon by the side of a puddle. His Lordship ordered us to find her, because she is so important to the Peak Lord. He believes that they will make it. Peak Lord Shen will want to have his cat back safe and sound when they do, just like his disciples."
Shen Wannian nodded. "I will make sure he doesn't run away," he promised as he sat down on the bed, where Luo Binghe was placed down.
The demon soldier lowered his head in thanks before handing Shen Wannian a second key for the room and going back to his post. Shen Wannian waited until he was gone, before inquiring the System about the two oldest peak lords' vitals. Only when he had made sure that the two were fine and their HP-levels were on maximum did he lay down next to his friend.
In the following days, Shen Wannian would keep checking his shizun's and shishu's status meticulously. Partially to calm himself and partially to confidently try and clear up his friends' worries. Luo Binghe didn't look very calm though. He seemed to feel betrayed that Shen Wannian wouldn't just let him leave, but instead even locked him in a room himself.
