After a quick swoop on both sides of the corridor, Y/N leisurely walked out, keeping the key firmly hidden in his pocket as Pomni anxiously trailed behind him. It was unlikely that other people would be awake at this time, but not impossible. He had been intercepted by Ragatha or Zooble a few times sneaking around, which he then had to pass off as a random need for fresh air. Pomni didn't exactly seem like the perfect partner for this as Y/N wouldn't be surprised if she screamed at her own shadow. She would be easy to hide, however.

Pomni - "S-So... what's the plan?"

Y/N - "Plan? Ah, you sweet, innocent thing, there is no plan."

Pomni - "Oh. Could I ask... why?"

Y/N - "I have no way of knowing what's where, so we're just gonna charge through every lock we find. Unless you can think of a better system."

Pomni - "How long is this gonna take!?"

Y/N - "Dunno. Time is a construct and space is infinite, so probably like a few hours. Maybe less now there's two people doing it."

Pomni - "Do you usually do this on your own?"

Y/N - "Sure do."

Pomni - "Don't you get... lonely?"

Y/N didn't respond to that at first. The answer was yes, but it felt selfish. He was surrounded by everyone in the circus and got along with everyone more than alright. That didn't stop isolation creeping in every now and then. Or often. Or usually. Or every day.

Pomni - "Sorry, t-that's kinda personal, isn't it?"

Y/N - "I do. But, y'know... there are people here, aren't there? I can talk to them whenever."

Pomni - "B-But sometimes it feels like you can't."

Y/N spins around, looking down at Pomni with a mixed expression. Clearly a more intense gaze than he intended as Pomni shrinks from the stare, her eyes growing fearfully like a deer in headlights.

Pomni - "...s-s-sorry, I-I-"

Y/N - "Yeah. Sometimes I don't want to, and other times it feels like they don't wanna listen. Everyone's going through it in here, so why impose my personal problems on people when I can help them with theirs? The problem is that's a two-way transfer; I love dishing out but can't stand receiving. That's something I should get over, I guess."

They had stopped walking, just standing in the main open room of the Tent as the gentle moonlight streamed through the open entrance. It was dead silent. Pomni's face softened as she extended out of her shrunken pose, looking Y/N in his eyes and speaking a bit more assuredly.

Pomni - "I get it..."

Before silence could take over them again Y/N set off, a bit more determined in his stride.

Y/N - "... alright, first door of the night."

Y/N took out the key and attempted to fit it into the lock only to fight against the conflicted shapes.

Y/N - "First door has failed me."

Pomni - "This is gonna take a while..."

Y/N - "Yup. You're welcome to leave whenever."

Pomni - "W-What? I can't leave you!"

Y/N stopped in front of the second door, smirking lightly and turning around to look at Pomni. You could tell by the look on her face that she didn't mean to yell that loud or yell at all for that matter.
