Chapter 36 - Déjà Vu

Pomni was cold. Why was she cold?

Pomni woke up slowly, groggily rubbing her eyes as she tried to adjust to her new state of consciousness. That last adventure had really taken it out of her. I mean, could you blame her? Her first out-house adventure had ended up with her boyfriend critically injured and spiralling into a crisis, her new friend being blown up into nothingness, and another harsh reminder of how stranded they all were here. It had been a rough day.

But so long as she had Y/N... her lovely Y/N... none of that mattered.

his, however, brings us back to why Pomni was cold. As her eyes opened wider she realised that the colour and the shape of Y/N was nowhere to be found. In his place was a pillow. Comfy, sure, but not him. Nothing could ever try to replace his chest, shoulders, and neck for her. Where had he run off to? Was he okay? That panic attack and collapse the previous day really caught everyone off guard, and it only made Pomni's stomach drop upon remembering it. First, he had a really rough time on the adventure and supposedly snapped at everyone. He was really weird with that princess lady too.

The more she stewed on it the more worried she became. Pomni shot out of Y/N's bed, rubbing her eyes a little more and yawning before rushing out of the door. However, as she went to open the door the door opened for her, and in walked the beaming face of Y/N. Instantly her worries were calmed, but a new feeling of curiosity washed over her.

Pomni - "Y/N! Oh thank goodness you're okay, you had me worried - d-don't go disappearing like that on me, okay?"

Y/N - "I- no, you're right, sorry Poms. I just couldn't sleep and took a walk, but you will not BELIEVE who I found wandering around the Grounds like a lost puppy~!"

Oh, he found someone late at night? Or early in the morning, rather; now that was interesting. Pomni cocked an eyebrow, her previous grogginess now all but gone.

Pomni - "You... found someone? Like Bubble or something?"

Y/N - "Not quite~ You wanna come on in, mate?"

The familiar form of Gummigoo rounded the corner, a small happy smile on his face as he saw Pomni.

Gummigoo - "'Ello, Pomni. Long time no see."

Pomni's face lit up like a child on Christmas. She rushed over and looked at him, poking his soft gummy arm a few times before smiling even wider.

Pomni - "Y-You're... you're here? Now? How?!"

Y/N - "I found him on my walk. I think his little existential crisis may have been a little bit more of a permanent thing than we thought. I believe there's a person in this lovely fella now."

Y/N grinned, slapping Gummigoo on the shoulder like a proud parent.

Y/N - "Still remembers us, though! Acts like the same ol' cowboy through and through - no idea what Caine'll make of it but I doubt he could even get rid of him now he's got a soul n' all. So, whaddya think~?"

What does she think?! She's lost for words! Pomni stuttered a few times, looking between Y/N and Gummigoo with a wonder behind her big bulbous eyes. How the hell had this even happened? It didn't quite add up in her mind - he just showed up so soon after being 'poofed' like that? Strange.

Regardless, she was happy he was back! A new friend, a fresh face, one that she can help and relate to like how Y/N did with her, it was incredible. Nothing short of a miracle, really.

Pomni - "W-What do I think? I-I dunno, it's amazing! You just showed up outside the Tent?"

Gummigoo - "Uh, yeah. One second I was in there with all of you, the next I was outside. I walked in and Y/N suddenly appeared with the biggest smile on 'is face. I didn't think you'd miss me that much."
