Hey, where had Y/N gone?
Pomni had been so caught up in the jubilation of seeing Gummigoo return that she didn't notice him leave. Maybe he'd slipped out to go grab Jax? He wasn't here, either.
Eh, nothing to worry about.
Y/N and Jax took a very meagre step into the restaurant. Tension aside it was actually a rather pleasant place - a calm atmosphere of sophisticated conversation amongst the various mannequins and blank faces. Then, of course, there was Caine's face. It was unreadable as always, yet there was an undeniable sense of this unfamiliar sensation emanating from him. Almost as if he was about to scold them, hell, about to hurt them.
Caine - "Take a seat, please. Do either of you fancy a beverage? We've got hot hot honey!"
Y/N - "I'll... pass, thanks."
Jax was remaining uncharacteristically quiet. Assumedly Caine had made him go fetch Y/N, so he may be feeling a little nervous, or dare he say guilty. It's fine, Y/N could handle Caine any day of the digital week. And if push came to shove... well. Only time would tell.
Y/N kicked one leg over the other and leant back into the chair a little more, staring intensely at Caine's large eyeballs, which were fixed on him in return.
Caine - "Thank you for being so cooperative, gentlemen! This will only take a fraction of your time, and then you can go back to celebrating."
Y/N - "You know, don't you?"
Caine - "Know what?"
Y/N felt his eye twitch a little.
Caine had some nerve pulling him away from such a wonderful moment just to scold him. Who did he think he was? Did he know who he was talking to?
Oh. Hm, where did that come from?
Y/N - "C'mon, get to it."
Caine - "Fine, let's cut the chitchat. I've been informed that you have managed to continuously break the boundaries and manipulate the coding of the Amazing Digital Circus."
Y/N - "And how have you been informed, exactly?"
Caine - "By my hundreds of all-seeing eyes, of course!"
Y/N always thought that was more of a metaphorical thing. Did he actually have eyes everywhere? At this point Y/N wouldn't put it past Caine to pull such a stunt.
Caine - "And besides, I am made aware when someone crosses the threshold outside of the Grounds. I do have my Wacky Watch, after all!"
Y/N - "The hell is a Wacky Watch...?"
Caine - "Now, I'm sure you of all people are aware that your position in the circus is crucial, Y/N. The more you continue to tamper with the code, however, it can become a little bit... unstable."
Y/N - "Unstable?"
Jax - "That ring of yours. It's been weakening the walls between the Tent, the Grounds and the Cellar. The more you use it, the more the place is... well, at risk."
At risk? Unstable?
No, no no no, but Y/N was helping. He was gonna save Queenie, he already saved Gummigoo - these are good things, aren't they?
Aren't they?
The conversation, or more so the fight, with Loo flashed through Y/N's mind like lightning. She had warned him, she even died to prove her point.
