Eight

Nunew woke up with a headache. He opened his eyes and closed it immediately due to the blinding lights. He tries to sit up but his left shoulder hurt.

"Ouch" Nunew complained

"Nunew? You're up! He's up' call the doctor quick!" Nunew could hear his mother's voice

"Nu wait dont move much. Let me sit you up" nunew hears her said

His head of the bed then sat up and soon enough he's already sitting up.

"Mama, can you turn the lights down please? It's too bright and hurting my eyes" Nunew tells her.

She then dimmed the light down.
"Is that okay? Do you want some water?" She asks Nunew

"Yes please mama. My throat is so dry" Nunew tells here. She then gave him glass with a straw and he started sipping.

His father then came in with what looks like a doctor

"Hi Nunew. My name is Dr. Sapahap. Good that you're awake now. How are you feeling?" The doctor asked

"I have a headache and my left shoulder hurt" Nunew tells him

"That's okay. I will ask the nurses to give you some pain medications now. Do you remember anything that had happened?"

Nunew thought for a bit.
"I was coming home from the awards night. Me and P'Leang was in the van when suddenly i heard a crash. And thats it. That's all i can remember" Nunew tells them

"That's okay. That's basically what happened. You had a car crash. A speeding car crashed into your van. Fotunately you were sitting on the other side and was wearing the seatbelt. You have a concussion and a small superficial cut in your head. You also have a dislocated shoulder as a result of the crash. That's why you have a headache now. You were asleep for a whole day. Good thing there is no bleeding inside your head as well." The doctor says to him

"I was asleep for a whole day? Wait what about the driver and Phi?" Nunew said as he is concerned about them.

"They're actually alright. Since they are both sitting in front of the van, they just suffered from whiplash. The car crashed more into the tail end of the van that's why it was you who took the most hit. They were already sent home to rest."

"Okay. But when can I get home too?" Nunew said. He really dislikes hospitals.

"I need to keep you in for atleast one more day. We need to to a scan of your head again tomorrow to make sure everythings alright. If it is, then we can discharge you. You should keep your shoulder in a sling for 2 weeks. Just to keep it steady. I will ask one of the nurses to put it on for you. You can remove it when lying down though so dont worry about it when sleeping" the doctor says to him.

"Okay. Thank you doctor" Nu politely said

"No problem. I will ask the nurse to give you some pain meds. It's on the strong side so i suggest you eat first before taking it as you might feel sleepy after. If there is anything else, you can just give the nurses a call."
The doctor then left the room

"I made some porridge just in case you get hungry. Here have some already" His dad tells him as he hands Nunew the bowl.

"Thanks papa. Pa, has any of you seen my phone?" Nunew asked

His mother who's peeling some oranges for him took it out of her hand bag and handed it to him

"Its completely shattered Nu. Sorry" His mother tells him.

He looks at it and see that the screen is completely broken. He sighed.
"Its okay mama. It cant be helped" he softly smiles at them. They must have been so worried. Nunew thought in his head.
