Thirty-Two
David took another sip from his strawberry milk frappe while his eyes were still fixated on Paul, who's currently reading a newspaper and leaning his entire weight on the guardhouse at the same time.
David knows that the possibility of Paul catching sight of him is very high, since he's been lurking around the area for a week now. So, if Paul really spots David at 7-11 already and decides to look at the same place again—David won't be there this time—it will look like Paul was only imagining things.
He speared the inside of his left cheek and continued to ponder his mind when he felt a presence behind him, making him stop momentarily.
David turned his head around and locked eyes with a tall, muscular man. The buff man was wearing a white hoodie and black basketball shorts, and his hair was styled in a neat side part. Judging from his demeanor, David guessed that the guy just got out of the gym and decided to pick up some coffee, or probably a frappe afterwards.
Though David might be wrong, who knows?
David blinks at the huge guy. He puckered his lips and made a sharp popping sound.
"Do you need something?" David's tone was friendly and curious.
The tall man scratched the back of his head, looking a bit bashful. "Hi. Uh... I'm Randall."
David nodded politely. "Hello, Randall. I'm Roy. Nice meeting you."
It was in David's nature to give out his second name instead of his first name to strangers, since it reduces the possibility of being found on the internet. David was quite famous in terms of being an archer.
"If you don't mind me asking, are you with someone right now?"
The small smile that stretched Randall's lips enhanced his soft boy look even more. As David stared at him and observed his body language, Randall looked like he was contemplating something.
"Baka gusto mong umupo, dito nalang oh," David said politely again while gesturing at the empty table beside him.
Randall was taken aback by the sudden gesture, so he wasn't able to react very quickly.
"Walang nakaupo diyan, if that's what you're wondering."
"Oh, yeah sure... I mean, thank you."
David chuckled softly at Randall's incoherent answer before he reached for his pink drink. While taking a sip, for some reason, David's eyes found their way back to Paul and the guardhouse.
