We stayed huddled up on that couch until James found us.
His face fell the second he saw us.
"What in hells name is going in here!" He yelled, and I shushed him.
"I'm doing something called emotional support. We are comforting each other." I explained, and he looked like a deer in headlights.
"Why?" He asked plain.
"Because Donovan needs it. And honestly, I might need some, too." I said, and Donovan looked up at me and smiled. "I'm here for you." He whispered.
"And why would you need such a thing?" He asked,"and of all people, why him?" He added with a scrunched up nose.
"Because I like to think that Donovan and I are friends. And friends comfort each other. Also, it's because the countess dropped both of us. So it's relatable." I sighed while Donovan continued his small whimpers.
"Dropped you?" James repeated questioningly.
"Threw us out like trash." Donovan cried.
"She got a new toy and decided that we are not good enough anymore." I explained.
"Not good enough? My y/n not good enough!?" He shouted and turned red. "She dares disrespect my partner like that?!" He was talking to himself, but it was very flattering anyway. "I can't believe it!" He yelled again and ran around in circles.
"Calm down, there's nothing for you to be angry about." I said and he stopped in his tracks.
"But of course there is! You have been insulted. This is unacceptable!" He said bewildered.
"Whatever. I think it's best we should lay low until she remembers our worth." I said and Donovan nodded sadly.
James left us and Donovan and I talked about all sorts of stuff. We got to know each other, we shared stories and laughed a lot.
