I went back up to the bar and saw that Tristan had joined Liz.
"Oh. Hi." He said awkwardly.
"Hey, Tristan." I said back.
"Heard. Things escalated...." He murmered.
"You could say that. But I think it's all good now." I said with a small smile.
"Good. Good." He said and turned back to Liz, who clung to his lips like honey.
I looked around for James but couldn't see him. The smell of cigarettes filled the air. Without having to look, I saw Sally had made her way near the bar.
"We've talked about this, Sally." Liz said to her.
"I can do what I want. Not like you can kick me out." She half laughed. It was an ugly sound.
"Why don't you crawl back into your hole and not come out again. How's that?" Tristan said angrily.
"You shut your mouth, pretty boy!" She threatened. "Or I'll visit you in your dreams." She cackled.
"Sally!" Liz yelled, and Sally got up to leave. "Don't mind her." She saif and waved her off.
"You know. The only one I wanna see in my dreams...." Tristan said, but I didn't hear what he ended the sentence with. However, judging by Liz' expression and wild faning. It must've been a real something.
"I'm gonna go back to James." I said with a smile, and Liz nodded with a soft smile.
I sat down across from James.
"I was right, wasn't I?" He said and took a swig from his drink.
"Yes." I replied shortly. "Now that everything is finding its way, what should we do? I mean, what do you usually do. Century after century?" I asked curiously.
"But you already know that. I kill, I host parties. That's what I do." He explained happily.
"So it's not all too different from Elizabeth's life." I smiled, and James nodded.
"Perhaps not." He said lightly.
"Y/n! Why don't you two come over here instead of brooding away on your own." Tristan called, and I looked at James.
"Why not?" He chuckled and gave me his arm to hold while we walked the short way over to the bar.
James and Tristan got along well. Tristan had Googled James, which sounded obscene to James, who had never heard of something like that. I explained some of the terms Tristan used to James.
"So... she actually let you go?" Liz finally asked.
"Yes. I can say that I'm no longer one of her lovers. She made it clear that James and I go together and that she does not want to be part of that." I explained.
"But she made you? I've never seen her let one of her creations go." Liz argued intrigued.
"Well, maybe she let me go because I'm no longer one of her creations." I said and understood that Liz did not know about my fate.
She looked at me quizzingly. "What does that mean?"
I took off the neckscarf, revealing my fatal wound.
Liz's hands went up to her face, covering her in mouth in shock.
"She... she did that to you?" Liz asked, tears filling her eyes.
"It's okay, Liz! Please don't cry. It's better this way. Now I can be with James without having to fear death or anything else. This is her way of setting me free from our bond!" I explained to her in a hurry.
"We can be together forever. And now you'll have a best friend that will keep you company for all eternity! Not just Sally lurking and moping, bringing you down. But also me to lift you up again!"
I climbed over the bar and hugged her tightly.
