I tied my hair in a neat bun and applied lip gloss. I grabbed my bag and my laptop case before heading out my room. "Dear, come have some breakfast before you gp." Mum called from the kitchen.
I went to the kitchen and hugged her then sat at the breakfast table. She put a plate of freshly made pancakes in front. "This looks delicious." I grabbed the syrup and poured it all over.
'King James has announced that he has stage 4 cancer and will no longer be fulfilling his duties. Prince Alessandro is set to takeover the King's duties.'
I looked up at the tv screen and saw the King addressing the public. My heart boke seeing him in such a weak state. But it ached even more knowing how hard all this must be for Alessandro nd Rafael.
"Did you know about this?" Mum asked with a surprised expression. I nodded and chewed on my food. "Alessandro told me that the cancer has spread and the doctors are struggling to treat it."
"Oh, how awful." She sighed.
I finished eating and grabbed my things. "I'm heading out. I'll see you at the office." I told her before leaving.
I opened the door and my eyes widened when I saw Alessandro standing outside. His eyes widened when he saw me before his face became relaxed. It's been a week since our last encounter. Seeing him made my stomach flutter.
He gave me a small smile. "Hey."
"Hey." I said back.
"Are you rushing anywhere?" He asked.
I shook my head no. "I was just going to the office. Did you want to talk or something?"
He scratched the back of his neck nervously.
"Uh - I just needed to have a 'normal day' out. Can I take you out to breakfast?" He asked.
I smiled at him and nodded.
We both sat in the back of his Range Rover SUV while his driver drove us. We were silent the entire time, neither of us wanting to say anything. It was just peaceful and comforting being in each others presence.
The driver parked underground at Donato Hotels. It was one of the most luxurious and expensive hotels in the world. Once we got to the restaurant, we went to a private room and gave the waiter our orders.
"So, how have you been?" I asked him.
He sighed. "Just alright and yourself?"
"Fine thanks." I responded.
There was a moment of silence before he spoke again.
"I needed to go out for a bit and the only person who I truly enjoy going out with is you." He admitted.
My heart tugged at his kind words.
"I'm truly touched, people's prince." I chuckled, putting my hand over my heart jokingly.
He had a boyish grin and shook his head.
Our food came and we ate with small talk there and there. We both felt comfortable with each other and everything just felt right. Whenever I was with him, all my worries would go away as if we were the only two who existed on the planet.
"I've got to get to work now." I told him.
He pressed his lips tightly together. "You'll go after I show you something." He said.
I raised my eyebrow at him.
"What is it?" I questioned.
He smiled dreamily. "Something you'll really like. It won't take more than an hour. Let's go."
