GIA'S POV

My eyes slowly flickered open, meeting the high ceiling. I blinked a few times and sat up straight to take in my surroundings. I realized that I was lying in Alessandro's bed. I yawned and tried to get out of bed when I saw Alessandro standing on the other side of the room, looking out the window. His arms were crossed with the sleeves of his pure white shirt rolled up.

"You're up." His deep voice said.

I stretched for a bit before standing on my feet. "What happened?"

"You fainted but the doctor said you will be alright."

He turned to face me, giving me a cold a stare. My brows arched in surprise at his cold, stern expression. "Is everything okay?"

His jaw ticked as he walked closer to me stopping a few inches from me. "Is it his?"

I stared up at him confusion. "What are you talking about?"

"The baby." He answered. My heart skipped a beat. He knew that I was pregnant? Did he know all along?

"H-how did you know?" My voice croaked out.

His frown deepened. "The doctor told me but that doesn't matter. Is the baby Rafael's, Gia?" His voice rose making my stomach contract into a tight ball.

I narrowed my eyes at him. "Why are you even asking? Is it not obvious?"

"It could be his for all I know. Maybe that's why you didn't tell me." His face flushed and he lowered his eyebrows. "I don't know what you two did before we got together."

I stood unblinking trying to process his words. He didn't trust me. How could he even think that the baby's not his? To think I thought he would be excited upon hearing the news. Instead he thinks the baby is not his?

He searched my eyes. "So it is his." He concluded.

Tears welled in my eyes threatening to spill. A hard knot constricted in my throat, making it hard to breathe. "You already chose to believe it's his so why even ask?"

He rolled his eyes. "I'm asking you who's it is. It's a simple question so why don't you just fucking answer it." He cursed.

I swallowed the lump in my throat before meeting his fiery gaze. "What do you want to hear? That it's not yours?" I chuckled bitterly. "Would that make you happy?"

His eyes softened and he had mixed emotions on his face. Something between regret and hurt.

"To me it sounds like you wish it isn't yours." I paused. I saw my purse on the coffee table and grabbed it along with my shoes. I turned to face him and met his caring gaze.

"If it's his, I don't want it." He spat with a bitter tone.

A tear rolled down my cheek. "Well I hate to break it to you but it's yours, Alessandro. I was going to tell you but I knew you were going through a lot. I was hoping it would make you happy but-" My voice broke and I looked away letting the tears fall.

I met his eyes again. His gaze softened and he walked closer.

"This is not how I expected you to react and clearly you don't even want a baby." I shook my head then I scurried to the door.

"Gia, wait!" He called out. I opened the door. "That's not what I meant-"

I shut the door, wiping my tears. Lucy was outside and gave me a worried look. I walked past her, rushing and she followed me. "Ms. Napoletano, is everything-"
