The warm Alessandro from a few seconds ago was replaced by the usual cold, rude Alessandro. The blonde girl kissed him on the lips and he gently pushed her away, clearly annoyed by her. She frowned at him when she noticed he wasn't as happy to see her. The more I looked at her the more familiar she became. She was Princess Beatrice of Greece. Kate joined us when she saw the scene.
"Beatrice, what are you doing here?" Alessandro questioned with a deep, serious voice.
"I thought I'd surprise you and come back from my trip earlier." She replied.
Her eyes landed on me. "Who are you?" She raised her eyebrow.
"This is Gia Hamilton. She's a well-known event planner. Rafa asked her to plan his birthday party." Alessandro explained.
"Hi, nice to meet you your highness." I extended my hand.
She looked at it for a while with a disgusted look before she shook it.
"I'm Beatrice, princess of Greece and also Alessandro's fiancé. " She gave me a fake smile.
My heart almost dropped when she said 'fiancé'. He never told me he was engaged to be married. A knot of dread formed in my stomach at the thought of him marrying her. But I didn't really care that they were engaged. He was just a friend of mine who I didn't have feelings for.
Alessandro seemed visibly tense. He had a an angry scowl pulling at his lips. "Please excuse us." He said, clearly annoyed by his 'fiancé'.
I offered them a smile before they walked away.
"What was that about?" Kate questioned looking concerned.
"That, dear, who you just saw is Alessandro's supposed fiancé." I answered before taking a big gulp of my champagne.
She almost joked on her drink. "He's engaged?"
"Quite shocking. He never mentioned he was engaged." I pursed my lips.
"But it hasn't been announced that they're engaged. And I thought that was his ex. When did they get back together?"
I shrugged. "I don't know and I don't care. I think I should leave. My business here is done."
"I'm leaving with you." She uttered.
We left the party and drove back home. I wanted nothing but to go home and rest. Planning this event took a toll on me and now I just wanted to rest. I was beyond exhausted. Besides feeling tired, I couldn't help that heartache I felt. I couldn't understand why I suddenly felt so down.
When I got home, I saw that Rafael had called me several times. I didn't feel like talking to anyone. I just showered and went straight to bed.
The next morning it was pouring outside and the wind was blowing heavily. I sat in bed for a few minutes, just staring at my wall that was filled with picture frames of my favourite memories. My eyes stopped at a photo of me, mum and dad on a cruise ship. I remember it like it was yesterday. Dad had surprised us with a vacation on a cruise in the Bahamas. It was the year before our lives changed forever. The year before dad got ill with cancer eventually passing on two years later.
I forced myself to get out of bed and take a warm shower to ease my nerves. I woke up in a melancholic state, my emotions feeling bruised. Perhaps it was because I missed dad. The delicious aroma of food that filled my nostrils was the sole purpose for me leaving my warm bed
"Goodmorning, my darling." Mum smiled at me when I came downstairs.
"How did you sleep?" She asked while giving me a plate with an omlette.
