GIA'S POV
"Who on earth could have done this?" I heard a faint voice. It sounded very distant.
"Poor girl has been working so hard." I heard another voice which resembled Mum's.
As I slowly regained consciousness, I tried to open my eyes but the light in the room was too bright. My throat felt dry and my body was aching everywhere,
I couldn't shake this heavy, somber feeling. It felt as though I'd been hit by a ton of bricks. I finally managed to open my eyes. The first person who came into my vision was Mum, who sat beside me.
"W-where I am?" I asked, my voice coming out in a whisper.
"Oh, dear you're up." Mum sounded relieved, her eyes were red and puffy.
Dad was sitting on a couch next to Kate and Alessandro stood behind mum. Dad and Kate came to my side when they saw I was awake.
"You're in hospital, dear." Mum replied.
"Are you alright?" Alessandro leaned forward and grabbed my hand in his, giving it a light squeeze.
"I need water." I said, trying to move my body a bit.
Kate quickly grabbed a bottle from a mini bar fridge and helped me drink it.
"Thanks." I muttered and she offered me a small smile.
"I'm so glad to see you're okay." Dad 's gentle eyes met mine and I smiled at him. "I hopped on the jet as soon as I heard what happened."
I let out a sigh when all the events replayed in my head. "Please tell me it was just a nightmare."
They all shook their and looked at me with pity.
"Oh, good heavens. How did this even happen? I'm sure it's all over the media." I uttered, feeling defeated.
"Don't worry, my team is searching for the person who did this. It was clearly orchestrated to ruin your business." Alessandro commented, seeming upset.
"We'll find those idiots." Dad added.
Kate chimed in. "You've worked too hard for some bastards to try this." She looked at me with teary eyes.
"On the bright side, I've met Kathy." Dad smiled, making the mood in the room lighter.
"Not the best of ways but I'm glad we've finally met." Mum chuckled.
I looked around the room and realized I wasn't in a normal hospital room. It looked very spacious and the furniture seemed expensive. It even had a lounge with a flat screen TV.
"Am I in a VIP room?" I asked, looking around the room.
"Of course. I asked for the best room here." Alessandro answered and I nodded.
The door opened revealing the doctor.
"Glad to see you're up, Ms. Hamilton. You just had a panic attack but you should be fine. Although, I do urge you to rest. Do not do anything stressful for the next few weeks." He said.
"Did you hear that, Gia?" Kate pouted and I rolled my eyes.
The doctor chuckled lightly.
"You're free to go home. And please do look after yourself." He spoke before leaving.
"Let's get you home dear." Mum said.
I spent the next week doing nothing serious. Mum and Kate made sure I didn't do anything too strenuous. Literally. Either one of them stayed home with me when the other had to leave to make sure I stayed in bed resting. If one of them couldn't, Alessandro filled in even canceling some of his meetings. Dad stayed in London for a few days before going back to Manchester.
