I knew his feelings well enough, not oblivious nor cold-hearted,
But there's a clear reason for rejecting his confession, we've both charted.

Someday, if fate decides to make our paths cross once more,
I hope not to see that pain in your eyes, as it's something I deeply abhor.
For you know all too well the extent of my hurting,
Yet you can't do anything to heal it, the pain keeps asserting.

Because you're the reason, you see,
But I won't let you witness the pain in me.
To see you happy with someone who deserves you better,
In loving arms and honest company, where you truly belong, unfettered.

Not in my cruel world, full of deceit,
You deserve so much more, my love, complete.
So go on and forget about me, my dear,
May happiness find you, and wipe away every tear.
