A Dance With Regret

I never anticipated a time
When the person I cherished most
Would make me yearn to leave their side
And pray they'd no longer be a part of my world

Stop compelling me to regret our meeting
For it pains me deeply
When someone I love, who vowed to never hurt me
Breaks their promises and shatters my heart

I don't seek your apologies
What I crave is your genuine sincerity
I exist to express, not to impress
Though I pretend not to care,
I can't help but see and feel
Yet, it haunts me relentlessly
Every single night

Love may hold the key to all dilemmas
But it also possesses the power to destroy everything
It can drive us to foolishness
And make us act as fools

Perhaps I'm unaware of what the future holds
But I am certain it will be an arduous journey.
