A Distant Star

With every glimpse of stars, a void engulfs me,
A black hole, deep within my very core,
A sudden surge of solitude in my soul,
And a melancholy that grips my heart.

Why, I often ponder, does this occur?
These emotions echo the ones I hold for you,
Like a distant star, forever out of reach,
You remain an enigma, an untouchable presence.

In my youth, I sought solace in the heavens,
Climbing trees or ascending hills,
Yearning to draw closer to the celestial lights,
Yet, with each step, they only grew more distant.

Just like you, for every stride I take towards you,
You retreat, two steps in reverse,
It wounds me deeply, yet I persist,
Continuing to reach, to yearn for your presence.
