Shattered Vows, Wounded Soul

1 1 1

Once I begin, there's no turning back,
But once I stop, I won't resume the track,
Fooled by your deceit, I stand resigned.

As promised, I loved you with all my might,
Cared for you through darkness and light,
Always by your side, come what may.

Yet, if you persist in pushing me away,
If you continue to fuel my hatred's sway,
If you persist in breaking me, tearing me apart,
If you wish for me to release my hold on you.

Once the time arrives, and I finally see,
Accepting the changes that were meant to be,
Once I cease to love you, my heart grown cold,

Once I turn my back on promises of old,
Leaving behind our plans, forgotten and untold,
Once I bid you farewell, letting you go,

I shall not return, for this I know,
Once I embark on a life without you,
In determination, I shall start anew.
