"Such a fucking gobshite!" Kira mumbled as she sat in the passenger seat of Jaehyun's car followed by Taehyun who entered the back
"Language, please" Jaehyun whined, nodding his head to the backseat as Jihye was holding a teddy bear in her grip, humming to the radio
"You brought her with you?" Kira asked with surprise and Jaehyun nodded, remembering the tantrum Jihye had thrown earlier than morning when he suggested leaving her with Kai for a little bit. After the traumatic situation just a few days ago, she was too scared to be alone and didn't know how to express it in ways other than crying.
"My bad, she's such a horrible person" Kira said, strapping her seatbelt on
"What happened?" Jaehyun asked, starting the car
"She's the exact same person she used to be, I thought she wanted to meet to make amends and go back to being friends—but no, she was much more interested on how you and I met and why I didn't tell her we met on campus and blah blah blah" Kira grumbled
"And you were friends with this girl why?" Jaehyun asked, shaking his head
"Because...she was nice before. I don't know why I even decided to talk to her again" She sighed
"I completely forgot that she was the one who kissed your ex at the party as well" Taehyun said adding in the detail Kira purposefully left out
"Seriously? Kira can you please just cut every single toxic person out of your life?" Jaehyun said with a groan, fathering her like usual
"Good idea, Taehyun get out of the car" she said making him flick the side of her head, and in turn she reached over her seat to hit him back
"Enough!" Jaehyun shouted, pulling Kira back down to her seat, keeping his hand on her thigh to hold her down despite her whines
"God, you two can't even be in the same car can you?!" Jaehyun asked with a sigh
"Daddy can we stop for some ice cream?" Jihye asked from the back seat
"No, you already had some yesterday, you'll catch a cold" Jaehyun said and Jihye whined
"Come on Jae, a little more won't hurt" Kira pleaded, in the mood for some as well and Jaehyun sighed, giving in as usual
"Jihye, what flavour are you gonna get?" Kira asked, excitedly turning around around, but the little girl only avoided her eyes, looking out the window as they passed the big skyscrapers
"Jihye?" Kira asked, a little concerned with how she was being blatantly ignored by her
"Jihye, answer Kira when she's talking to you" Jaehyun sighed, looking into the rear view mirror to see what was going on
"I don't want to." Jihye said and Kira slumped back down into her seat looking at Jaehyun with confusion.
"Did I do something wrong?" She asked, voice growing weary as a silence took over the group
"Jihye what did I do?" She asked, turning her head to the back
"You're the worst mommy ever." Jihye mumbled.
Kira's heart plunged to the pit of her stomach and almost shattered at the statement, and it seemed to catch Jaehyun off guard too.
"Jihye what are you—"
"You broke a promise." She huffed and Kira slumped back into her seat. Jaehyun squeezed her thigh reassuringly but nothing could take her mind off what had just been said.
"Can she be my mommy instead?" Taehyun asked, and Jaehyun's hand was tensing up for another reason as his glare pierced through the rear view mirror
"N-no." Jihye said defeatedly
"Why not? If you don't like her I should have her. Its fair" Taehyun shrugged
"Mommy can you buy me a mango sor-"
"No! Shes not your mommy!" Jihye screamed making Jaehyun wince from the shrill in his ears, he knew he was going to get a hearing aid in a few years because of her. He pulled the car into the parking zone at a diner that seemed to have an ice cream parlour inside
"Why not?! I want Kira to be my mommy" Taehyun whined
"She's mine!" Jihye shouted back, throwing her teddy bear at his face making him wince
"But—"
"Taehyun." Jaehyun's voice was incredibly stern, making the boy in the backseat turn around to face him
"Call her mommy one more time and see what happens" he glared and Kira snickered at the statement
"Jesus, does everyone in the car hate me today?" Taehyun asked with a scoff
"Come on mommy, let's go buy ice cream" Taehyun said, unbuckling his seat belt. Jaehyun sighed, giving Kira an annoyed expression but she only smiled
"Let him off just this once, he saved my life" She said, poking his cheek where the imprint of his dimple usually sits
"So if some stranger offers you gum, they can call you babe?" He asked and she laughed, unbuckling her seat belt as well
"Here, take my card." Jaehyun said with a slight frown
"Oh no its—"
"Aww thanks Jae!" Taehyun shouted as he immediately reached for the black card before hopping out of the car and Jaehyun groaned loudly
"I'm going to kill him" he muttered and she chuckled
"Can you wait for his stitches to heal first?" She asked getting out of the car and following Taehyun into the shop to buy ice cream for them.
"Is she really his mommy now?" Jihye asked with slight panic and Jaehyun sighed, turning to look at his daughter who had the exact same pissed off expression as him making him smile at the resemblance
"If you apologise, Kira can be your mommy again" Jaehyun said with a reassuring smile
"But she needs to apologise...she broke her promise—"
"Yeah but she didn't mean to baby—"
"She needs to apologise first." Jihye huffed and Jaehyun nodded, knowing the girl was right to the extent that she knew of. She was too young to understand the whole situation.
"Okay one chocolate swirl for Jihye and pistachio for Jae" Kira said excitedly as she entered the car again
"How did you know what flavour to get?" Jaehyun asked with surprise and she blinked, handing him the spoon
"I'm literally your fan" She stated simply and he cracked a smile, following it with a laugh before thanking her. She scoffed as he entered his own little world in his head after hearing her statement.
"Where's Tae?" Jihye asked from the back
"Oh he's uh—"
"Now this is a feast!" Taehyun said, entering the car after buying a whole week's worth of food from the diner making Jaehyun widen his eyes at the two take away bags
"I'll pay you back" Kira said sheepishly
"It's fine." Jaehyun muttered, eyeing the boy as he unwrapped a cheese burger
"Don't even think of spilling a single atom of that burger in my car" Jaehyun glared and Taehyun chuckled
"I won't. Thanks for the food daddy—"
"HE'S NOT YOUR DADDY!"
Jaehyun burst out into a laugh as Kira's whine came out more louder than his daughter's. She slumped into her seat and covered her face with her hands immediately, wishing a lazer from the sky would just kill her instantly like in 'Alice in borderland'.
"So there we have it." Taehyun said with a cynical smile
"At 12:09pm, on the 10th of January, year 2024...we have confirmed that Kira does indeed...have daddy issues" he smiled victoriously
