"Daddy!" Jihye exclaimed, awake at 9am as she watched her father walk through the door after his 13.5 hour long haul flight from LA.
"Hello! Did you miss me?" Jaehyun exclaimed, crouching down to to catch his daughter that ran into his arms at full speed regardless of how tired he was
"Yes! You're back in time for Christmas!" She smiled happily and Jaehyun was more than happy to be the reason of such joy on an important day like this one
"Of course, just like I promised. Did you have fun with your grandma?" He asked picking her up into his arms, heading down the hallway to greet his mother
"Don't call me that, it makes me feel old" his mother glared from across the room and he chuckled, taking off his cap and placing his phone and keys on the coffee table
"I had so much fun! She gives me hot chocolate whenever I ask for it" Jihye said
"Does she now?" Jaehyun glared playfully at his mother
"Jihye go brush your teeth, let's have breakfast" his mother ordered but the girl only pouted and looked at her dad
"But what about the presents?"
"We can open them after, come on, the quicker you eat the faster you can open them!" Jaehyun said with a giddy expression and she was quick to climb down his arms and run to the bathroom
"How was the flight?" His mother asked as he slumped down onto his couch with an exasperated sigh
"Fine but the airport queues were horrible" he complained, reaching for his phone on the table to make sure it was off flight mode
"You were lucky you even got a flight back home on Christmas Eve" his mother said and he chuckled
"I paid extra...had to make sure I was back or I wouldn't hear then end of it" he said, and his mother chuckled at her granddaughter's tendency to hold grudges whenever Jaehyun didn't follow through with his promises
Jaehyun's eyes averted to the constant notifications that were bombarding his lock screen screen in the early morning and he unlocked his phone to see the new groupchat messages he had missed during his flight.
