Beautiful.
That was the first word that came to Jaehyun's head as he admired the face of the girl who slept peacefully beside him, lips parted and long eyelashes clenched down against her puffed cheeks. She was beautiful.
A light knock was placed on the other side of the door that was slightly left ajar when his daughter woke up from her slumber, opting to bother Kai instead of the two adults who were cuddling in bed.
"Yeah?" Jaehyun mumbled with a slow voice, trying his best to not wake Kira up from beside him.
"Hey, Taehyun is going to the bakery to get some breakfast, is Jihye allergic to anything?" Kai asked thoughtfully and Jaehyun smiled, shaking his head
"She likes blueberry muffins, could you get me coffee too?" Jaehyun asked lazily, sitting up from the bed and Kai nodded
"Wait Kai...take my card" Jaehyun said, forcing his eyes to remain open as he rooted through his suit jacket to find his wallet
"No it's okay, brother-in-law, get some rest" Kai said, bowing to him over-exaggeratedly and Jaehyun looked at him through his puffy eyes with confusion
"Did you just call me brother-in-law?" Jaehyun questioned with a slight scoff
"Well, your daughter keeps calling my sister mommy, so the math has to math, you know?" Kai retorted and Jaehyun rolled his eyes with a lazy smile
"No seriously, how did my sister pull someone like you? Is she really that good looking?" Kai asked and Jaehyun laughed
"I heard that." Kira mumbled into her pillow
"Yeah...she's pretty" Jaehyun said with a blush clouding his cheeks
"Aww thanks Jae" Kai said, giggling at the comment and Jaehyun looked at him confused
"You're technically complimenting me too since you know...I'm her twin-"
"We're not identical! Two twins do not make up one whole child! And me having sex with guys does not make you half gay!" Kira shouted in english, chucking a pillow the door to make it close on Kai as he ran away to duck it.
"Jeez, you've been holding that in huh?" Jaehyun chuckled, unable to control his laughter at the British accent that came out when she was angry.
"You just called me pretty" she mumbled into the pillow to hide her rosy cheeks, she couldn't believe that those were one of the first few words she had to wake up to that morning
"Yes I did" Jaehyun smiled with a soft chuckle as he laid back down on the bed, reaching his hand up to her head to push away the strands of hair that was messily covering her face but she only sunk her head further into the pillow with a whine
"What?" Jaehyun chuckled
"Why do you have to flirt with me? You're my bias, it's not fair!" She whined, wondering how it's possible to even be this lucky to have Jaehyun in her presence, let alone have him call her pretty first thing in the morning
Jaehyun let out a deep chuckle, shaking his head as he stood up to lazily fix his side of the bed, putting the spare slippers onto his feet
"I wasn't flirting, I was just making an observation. You're pretty, that's fact"
"Check the facts go check that" she mumbled, unable to contain it and he chuckled, opening her bedroom door and giving her one more glance as she remained buried in her bed out of slight embarrassment
"Okay, maybe I was flirting" he admitted with a smirk, closing the door quickly. He waited against the door in the hallway, biting his lower lip to stifle his laugh as he heard her muffle her screams into her pillow
"God! I'm not your strongest soldier!" He heard her faintly scream and he smiled, walking along the hallway to enter the living room, seeing his daughter sitting on Haerin's lap as she watched tayo. The red haired girl greeted him with a smile before turning her attention back to braiding the little girl's hair and Jaehyun returned one back
"Jung Jihye, you made new friends. Don't forget about me" Jaehyun said as he waked into the kitchen
"Who are you?" Jihye asked with a giggle and Kai smiled
"Ah, my niece is so cute~" Kai cooed to get Jaehyun's attention and Jaehyun playfully glared at him
"So...what did you do last night?" Kai asked, wiggling his eyebrows at Jaehyun who shook his head at him
"My daughter was in the room, you're a sick man Kai" Jaehyun sighed and Kai shrugged
"What? You guys looked really comfy, you can't possibly tell me you didn't do anything" Kai said, in his defence
"We didn't...we just cuddled" Jaehyun said, reaching for a mug, unable to hide his rosy cheeks and Kai gasped
"You cuddled?! How many times?" He asked, teasing the older man and Jaehyun bit back a smile at the relentless college students. Jaehyun reached for the english breakfast tea bags and Kai turned on the kettle for him
"Actually...she was pretty upset yesterday after you guys talked about London in the kitchen" Jaehyun said with a sigh, leaning against the counter to wait for the water to boil
"Hmm? London? Oh... yeah" Kai sighed, remembering the conversation they had in the kitchen that had nothing to do with London.
"It wasn't about London was it?" Jaehyun asked and Kai sighed
"I think she'll talk to you about it when she's ready...it's not my place to say anything" Kai said and Jaehyun nodded
"She likes her tea with a dash of milk and two spoons of sugar by the way" Kai smirked, knowing there was no way the coffee connoisseur Jaehyun who had asked for a coffee that morning was making a cup of tea for himself. Jaehyun bit back a smile before reaching for the milk and sugar
"Wait how much is a dash of milk?!"
"Like a bit but not a lot"
"I bring gifts!" Taehyun exclaimed as he stepped into the living room with the baked goods he had promised to go out and buy.
"You got a lot!" Haerin exclaimed
"Yeah loads of shops were giving stuff out for free because the power was cut" Taehyun said, priding himself in the fact that he had brought back enough to feed half of the South Korean army
"Do I smell blueberries muffins?" Kira asked, skipping happily into the room
"Kira how much is a dash of milk?" Jaehyun asked helplessly from the kitchen and she raised an eyebrow at him, padding her feet over to see what he was doing from behind his shoulder
"A little but not a lot" she said and he chuckled
"Yeah but what's a little and what's a lot?" He asked
"Hmm, when in doubt, just use Zendaya's skin tone as a reference" She said and Jaehyun laughed, thinking of his celebrity crush as he poured the milk in with an estimate.
"Good enough?" He asked and he turned to give her the cup, only to be faced with a pout on her face
"Is it too much?" He asked with a slight frown
"How could you think of another girl after you just called me pretty?" She pouted, grabbing the cup from him before
"But you said-"
"All men do is lie!"
