"You know technically, i'm your mom too" Kai said with a straight face as Jinhyung sat cross legged on the play mat with legos in his hands
"No you're not" Jinhyung giggled cutely, looking to Kai with his dimples poking out by the side of his cheek before snatching a red block from his hand
"I said technically. See, your mom is my twin so she only gave birth to you because I didn't swallow her when she was a baby. You wouldn't be here without me" Kai said confidently and the younger boy paused his movement for a split second before bursting out into tears. Kai widened his eyes and parted his lips before trying to hush the little boy and calm him down
"What did you do to Jinnie?!" Jihye said, closing her math workbook before stomping over to the two and Kai looked at her like a deer caught in headlights
"I didn't do anything! He just started crying!" Kai said defensively but the cries from Jinhyung only grew louder, gaining the attention of Kira who was previously napping against the comfy blankets of the couch
"What happened?" She said groggily, peeling her eyes open to look at the three seated on the floor
"Uncle Kai made Jinnie cry!" Jihye said, hugging her brother in her arms to try calming him down to no avail. Jinhyung immediately stood up to his feet and ran towards his mother as he heard her voice, his fists clinging onto her sweater as he straddled her lap.
"What's wrong baby? What did the big bad uncle Kai do this time?" Kira said with a sigh and her brother huffed, mocking her words quietly under his breath
"H-he said he was going to swallow you m-mommy!" Jinhyung cried loudly in her arms and Kira resisted every urge in her body not to roll her eyes for being awoken for this
"That's not what I meant bro" Kai said, attempting to sit beside Kira but Jinhyung shrieked and dug his head into his mother's chest
"Please don't swallow mommy!" He shouted and Kira laughed a little at the desperation of her child before shooting Kai a glare
"These twin stories need to stop Kai. We are completely different people!" She said
"Only because I didn't swallow you though..." Kai mumbled and Jinhyung looking up to his mom with teary eyes to make sure Kira was still alive and breathing
"Should I swallow uncle Kai instead?" She whispered to the little boy who instantly nodded
"Tickle monster! Tickle monster!" Jinhyung shouted happily and clapped his hands at the thought of his mother turning into the bad guy and attacking Kai with tickles. Kira smiled at the nickname Jinhyung usually called out to Jaehyun every time they were playing.
"Unfortunately this guy doesn't get tickles" Kira said with a pout and Jinhyung mirrored her expression. Kai almost had to bite back a little laugh at how similar they both were to each other.
"But you know who does?" Kira said with a smirk before turning to Jihye and Jinhyung's giggles returned, grabbing the attention of the girl
"What are you guys doing?" Jihye said, wondering why the attention was now on her
"Come here baby" Kira said with a smirk as she stood up, approaching the girl with Jinhyung beside her
"Mom stop! Don't come closer!" Jihye said, slightly panicked, having been through several tickle fights herself
"I just want a hug sweetie" Kira said with a laugh before quickening her steps and catching Jihye before she could run away further
"You promised you wouldn't do this anymore!" Jihye shrieked through a fit of giggles as she got attacked by her mom and little brother
"Your dad promised that, not me" Kira said with a laugh, releasing her quickly knowing she would pull the victim card for hours after if not
"I can't wait until daddy gets home! You two always gang up on me" Jihye said with a playful pout, sticking her chin up and crossing her arms over her chest
"I can't wait until your dad gets home too" Kira said with a sigh, sitting down on the floor and leaning against the couch tiredly
"Can we call daddy?" Jinhyung asked with hopeful eyes and Kira pouted lightly before pushing his grown out hair behind his ears
"No we can't love. We can only call him on the weekends remember?" Kira said, her voice lowering as she saw his expression sadden instantly
"Do you miss daddy?" Jinhyung asked, playing with the buttons on her sweater
"Everyday" she whispered back, kissing his forehead lightly
"Then why aren't you always sad?" Jinhyung asked, too young to notice that adults always seemed to hide their true emotions and Jihye leaned against her mother's arm, now old enough to know the reality behind it all.
"Because I still have you guys" Kira said with a smile, ruffling the boy's hair quickly before he got too upset
"Yeah, Jinhyung we're cooler than dad combined!" Jihye said and Kira rolled her eyes
"You're too much, your dad is cool" Kira said, defending the man she married and Jihye shot her a deadpanned expression
"Mom...he's a literal loser, like be for real" Jihye said and Kai gasped, pointing towards the girl
"When...when did she...start to talk like that?!" He said, shocked at her words
"I know right?" Kira said, whipping her head around to her brother with the same expression
"Your kid is scary..." Kai said with a quiet voice as he realised he was starting to get older than he realised
"Why don't you guys go play in your room for a bit? I have to cook dinner and the onions are going to sting your eyes" Kira said, patting the kids on their back before they stood up to leave the living room
"She's literally...like one of us now" Kai said, still in slight shock and Kira chuckled before sitting on the couch beside him
"I hope Jae doesn't come home and hate the girl I've turned his daughter into" Kira groaned, leaning into her brother's side
"Nah, as long as that guy gets to procreate, I doubt he cares" Kai said casually and Kira rolled her eyes, pinching his thigh quickly
"I miss him" Kira sighed
"Cry about it." Kai shot back with a glare and she scoffed
"What? Would it make you feel better if I talked like him?" Kai asked and she let out a laugh
"As if you are anything like my husband!" She defended once again and Kai looked at her with a challenging expression
"My favourite word is the word believe." Kai started
"Oh my god..." She trailed off
"It's very important to believe in yourself." He said with a straight face
"Oh my god...he is a literal loser" Kira said with a frown
"I told you!" Jihye's voice shouted from the next room as she overheard their conversation
"I married a total loser."
