Chapter 22: Magic and Crime Do Not Mix

  So far the summer has been pretty easy on our two young spiders. Both clearly taking up times as heroes, though some cannot find time to do it with friends on some occasion. You have been hanging around Kurt and Kitty more often, even swinging around New York with the two since you promised you would. Meanwhile with Gwen Stacy, she was going into Oscorp to speak with Dr. Conners regarding the reptilian experiment she had been helping with.

  Though, once she arrived inside, she reported to the secretary.

Gwen: Hello. Is Dr. Conners in today?

Secretary: Oh, Ms. Stacy. Well, sadly no he hasn't checked in today. At least not yet, which is alarming. He apparently made some grand discovery a couple days ago.

Gwen: You think he's at home? Maybe he' sick.

Secretary: We called his family, apparently he never went home.

  This confused Gwen as she thought it over in her head since it wasn't like Dr. Conners to just not show up unannounced. She goes to the side and tries calling you up to see if you heard anything.

Gwen: Please actually pick up (Y/N).

  Meanwhile with you, you were swinging through New York with Kitty in your arms as you can feel her clinging to you tightly, trying to hold on for dear life.

Nocturne: What's the matter? I thought you wanted to go the fast way?

Kitty: I meant fast as in the way that got us out of the air quicker! Not literally the- WATCH OUT!!!

  Kitty notices a billboard, as you manage to launch another web, running along the billboard and kicking off of it to regain your momentum with Kitty. Luckily she was really light, so it was like she wasn't even there.

  You hear your phone ringing and you answer it.

Noturne: Hello?

Gwen: Hey, (Y/N). You hear from Dr. Conners? Or anything about him? 

Nocturne: Hmm, no. Why, did something hap-

Kitty: WATCH OUT!!!

  Your ears ring a bit as you cling to a wall and look at Kitty.

Nocturne: Can't you just phase us through something anyway? Why are you so scared?

Kitty: Yeah, like, that is not a smart idea while we are in the air traveling at that speed.

Gwen: You're with Kitty?

  You could hear the distain in her voice which you understood.

Noturne: . . . Maybe.

Gwen: I thought that we-

Nocturne: Let's not do this now. Now, what about Dr. Conners?

  Gwen bites her lip a bit as she takes a deep breath.

Gwen: Can you help me look into it.

Nocturne: Sure. I'll keep you posted.

  You end the call as you decide to swing back to Kitty's apartment, climbing through the window and dropping her off in her room, eventually seeing the boxes in her room.

Nocturne: You moving out or something?

  You crawl into her room on the ceiling.

Kitty: No, more like someone's moving in. 

Nocturne: What, like a baby sitter? Is it Jean?

Kitty: No, just a few friends who doesn't like the drama at our last school.
