-What's that? Draken asked, frowning.

He wasn't used to that. I was his friend but I was talking to him like an enemy. It was normal for him to be confused.

I continued:

-You barge in here even though this isn't your school and you force Michi to follow you.

When he heard the nickname, Mikey tensed up.

I bit my lip. Blimey! I'd made a blunder. He obviously didn't know he was my little brother.

I took a deep breath. It was the first time I'd ever had a serious argument with Mikey and Draken. They meant a lot to me.

-I don't think you mean him any good. Takemichi (I was careful this time) has been coming home injured a lot lately. I'm really worried about him. If it's your fault...

I raised my head and looked into his eyes.

-You'll have to deal with me.

My little brother suddenly put his hand on Draken's shoulder.

-Let her go... Takemichi murmured.

-What did you say? I couldn't hear you.

-I told you to let her go! You fucking...

-Damn you. Are you talking to me like that? Draken asked, very annoyed.

-Rei's always protected me. So now it's my turn! I'm telling you one last time: let go of my sister right now! cried my little brother, determined.

-Michi... ! I whispered, moved.

Draken seemed to fall head over heels.

-Aaah! I thought we were mates, Takemichou. Too bad ❤️.

Everyone turned to Mikey. He was the one who'd been hit, but he hadn't said anything all along.

-Well, how do you want to die?" he asked Takemichi, giving him a frightening look.

-Even your mother won't recognise you any more," Mikey continued, coming closer, this time with a smile.

Takemichi took a deep breath.

-Just promise me one thing. Promise me that you'll never touch one of Reina's hairs or Hina.

-Hmm ? If you only knew how little I cared," Mikey replied, throwing a punch.

My little brother closed his eyes.

As for me, I froze. I'd understood that he wasn't going to hit Michi as soon as he'd said he'd use violence against Hinata and me as he saw fit. But Mikey didn't hit girls.

He stopped his fist.

-Just kidding ❤️!

-Huh?

-You tease! Mikey smiled, putting a hand on Takemichi's shoulder.

I nearly burst out laughing. I hadn't understood a word of what was happening.

-Can you see me raising my hand to a girl? You can't do that! Manjiro continued.

Draken let go of my wrist.

-Sorry, Rei," he apologised.

-It's OK," I reassured him.

He went to put his arm on Takemichi's shoulders.

-Takemichou! Am I dreaming or did you threaten me?

-S... Sorry...

-It's all right," Draken reassured him. You said you were protecting your sister, didn't you? Nobody talks like that any more. It's old school.

He withdrew his arm and went to join Mikey.

-You fooled me, man.

There was a moment's silence.

-Tell me, Michi," I asked my little brother. Why don't you tell us what happened?

-Ah! Yes...

-I apologise profusely!

Hinata exclaimed, bowing. I didn't know who you were...

-It's nothing... All the same, let her slam! teased Mikey.

I joined Hina.

-'I apologise too,' I said, bowing in turn. I misinterpreted the situation.

-It's all right, Rei," Draken reassured me.

I glanced at Mikey. When he saw that I was watching him, he smiled.

-Why do you ask? It's obvious that you're forgiven.

-Thank you, Rei! I smiled at him.

Mikey turned to Hinata.

-It's all very well to defend those you love, but you mustn't do just anything. Faced with some rascals, it could have turned out badly," warned Mikey.

-Right then!

She turned to me.

-Reina! Do you fancy going for a drink somewhere?

-Sure," I replied happily.

-How's that? But ... What about our date?" asked Takemichi.

-We'll do it another time," said Hinata.

-That's true. Go and have fun with your friends, they came here just to see you," I smiled.

-Bye bye" said Mikey to Hinata.

Then he turned to me.

-See you tonight at the shrine, Rei.

-I'll see you then," I replied with a wave of my hand.

Takemichi gave me a look of total incomprehension.

-I'll explain later," Mickey whispered to me.

I nodded and Hinata and I set off.

-Where are we going? I asked her. Do you have any ideas?

-I know a nice place," she answered enthusiastically.

-I'll be right behind you.

Always with a smile.

Hinata and I were sitting at a café table.

-Reina? Can I ask you a question? she asked.

-Yes, what is it? I answered while sipping my milkshake.

-I was wondering... What's your relationship with Mikey and Draken? They used to call you by your nickname.

-Ah, so that's what was bothering you! Draken's a dear friend and Mikey's been my boyfriend for a little over two years.

Hinata let out a scream that startled me.

-WHAT?!? Does that mean I slapped your boyfriend?! I'm sorry!" she exclaimed.

I waved my hands, embarrassed but still smiling.

-It's all right," I said. If it makes you feel any better, the first time I met Mikey I slapped him too.

-Really?!? Please, tell me about it!

-Didn't I? If you like...
