-Reina! Go and see Mikey and tell him we've got a problem! He's got to come back! Draken ordered.

I nodded and set off in search of the leader.

I heard Draken shouting in the distance:

-What the fuck are you doing, Takemichou?

What's got into him! I thought, worried.

My brother had hit a captain that Mikey had recruited himself, and his reaction was going to be terrible!

I found him leaning against a tree behind the sanctuary.

He opened his eyes again when he heard me coming.

-Rei? he asked. What's the matter?

I took his hand in mine and led him towards the meeting.

-There's no time to explain! Just come with me.

We were surprised to see Baji standing in front of a bloodied Takemichi.

-Kei! I shouted. What have you done?

He turned towards me, blood on his face.

Mikey put an arm in front of me.

-What are you doing here, Baji? You provoked an internal conflict in the gang and you've been banned from our gatherings," he asked.

-I just punched another little prick," replied his friend, smiling. Besides, you don't need to protect Rei, you know I'd never hurt her.

The Toman leader didn't withdraw his arm, however.

-Anyway," said Baji. Since I've ruined your precious gathering, are you going to kick me out this time?

-Are you? I asked, surprised. What's he on about?

-I'm leaving the gang to join Valhalla. You don't need a troublemaker like me around, do you Mikey?

-BAJI! he shouted.

I felt a pang in my heart. So that's what all those promises were about.

Mikey blocked my path.

I hesitated but finally gave up.

Suddenly there was a thud and we turned to see my brother on the ground.

I rushed over to him. As I passed Kisaki I said to him:

I was currently in town chasing Baji.

I was thinking about what had happened earlier.

He flinched.

I smiled at him.

-I chose you and nobody else. Kei and I are just friends. If he'd heard all that, he'd have burst out laughing. But there's something I need to clear up with him.

The Toman leader sighed.

-OK, go ahead. I'll look after Takemichou.

-Thanks ! I shouted to him as I left.

After half an hour's searching I finally found someone who had seen him.

In the alley around the bend, I thought.

I stepped into it and saw him at last.

-Kei! I shouted.

-Rei?!? What are you doing here? he exclaimed.

-What's this? What a pleasant surprise! It's been a while Rinnie.

I stopped.

That voice and that nickname...

-Kazutora?!? I shouted.

He came out of the shadows and smiled at me.

-Himself.

I took a step back in shock.

-Why ... Why didn't you tell me you'd been released from prison?! I asked.

-Sorry, I was afraid you'd tell Mikey. With your optimism...

-I wouldn't have done that.

I turned back to my other friend.

-Kei?! Why didn't you tell me?!

-Sorry, it's my fault," Kazutora apologised. I forbade him to do it.

I took him in my arms.

-Are you alright? Don't tell me you're living with your father.

-I'm fine and no. Thanks for your concern.

I let go of him and turned to Kei.

-Is your decision irrevocable?

-Yes," he said. Tokyo Manjikai is no longer my gang, it's over.
