The Party

The neighborhood was deadly quiet when he cycled in. Well mostly quiet. One house at the end had its lights on. Cars lining the street to it. Giving Rody an easy guide to it, and a brag for close parking. The closer Rody was the louder sounds of chatter and faint music could be heard. Rody smiled as he leaned his bike over by the railing behind some bushes. He quickly wiped some invisible particles off his shirt, and pants before approaching the door. He could feel his heart pound once again as he stood in front of the door. Why was he so nervous all of a sudden? It was just another party Richard was throwing. He had been to plenty before. Then again he has never been alone at those parties. Manon had almost always been with him. Hell he even had met Manon at one of them, and now that she wasn't here it made him feel weird. Rody quickly shook the feeling off and pressed down on the button for the doorbell. This was a party. Time to forget the past and have fun. The door swung open immediately with Richard standing on the other side. "Rody glad you could make it, come on in." Richard said as Rody walked in. The halls were already crowded with several people. Most of them are just chatting with a few making out. The living room was packed with people. Most of them were dancing to whatever record was playing, and once again some were also making out, or clearly trying to get a one night stand. Most of whom Rody could assume they were drunk by now. Walking into the kitchen food and drinks were laid out all in a row. "Help yourself, though most have probably been spiked." Richard said as he approached behind him and put an arm around his shoulder. Rody felt a small bit of discomfort at this action. Yet he chose to ignore it. Moving himself out of Richards grasp. "Thanks man." Rody said as Richard and shrugged as he walked over to the table where Dolly, Mathew, and a few other people Rody didn't recognize. Then his eyes landed on a familiar head of black hair. He was dressed in all black. Black pants, black shoes, and a black button up shirt. It was unbuttoned until his stomach. Giving Rody a glimpse of his chest though it was covered by a black undershirt. Perhaps the only thing that was not black on his outfit was a layered silver necklace, and several silver rings. Rody could feel a warmth spread through his cheeks. Something must've been wrong. He quickly walked over grabbing a cup filled with liquid and taking a chug of it. The alcohol burned his tongue and his throat. As soon as he was done he erupted into a coughing fit. It had been a while since he had drank. Let alone anything that wasn't beer. "Are you trying to kill yourself?" Rody took one final cough before looking directly at Vincent. "Oh hey Vince, what are you doing here?" Rody asked stupidly. He should've expected Vincent to be there. Afterall he was friends with Richard. "I was invited for what I hoped would just be a dinner party between friends, but Richard thought it was a good idea to invite a large crowd of drunk people over while his girlfriend currently has a broken leg. "Vincnet replied back sarcastically as he pointed over to the table. Rody shrugged. "I'm sure it's not too big of a deal." Rody said as he grabbed a random bottle and poured it into his cup. "Have you ever had vodka before, or are you just grabbing whatever and downing it?" Vincent asked. Rody looked back at the glass bottle. He just shrugged. "It's fine. Besides, if I have to crash Richard won't be too pissed." Rody replied as he began to grab food from the plates. "Why aren't you drinking?" Rody replied, taking a bite out of a cookie. "It wouldn't be smart if I drank when I drove myself over. "Would Richard be pissed if you stayed the night? I mean I'm sure you might have someone to keep you busy." Rody said with a nudge before quickly taking a swing from his cup. He couldn't believe what came out of his mouth. At least he should make it seem like he's drunk to avoid detection for any words he comes out of his mouth. Vincent scoffed and crossed his arms. "I don't have time for such nonsense." Vincent replied as he leaned against the counter. Rody raised a brow as he reached for one of the mini sandwiches that had been made. "What do you mean?" Rody asked before taking a bite into it. The flavor of well chopped tomatoes, fresh lettuce, and easily chewable but still crunchy lettuce swirled in his mouth. Making his stomach yearn for more. Though he decided to keep it as casual as he could. "It doesn't matter." Vincent muttered as Rody took another giant bite. Almost completely devouring it. Vincent looked over at him more confused and concerned before relaxing a bit. "So what brings you here?" Vincent asked. Rody grabbed another sandwich, shoving it in his mouth. He knew he couldn't just tell Vincent he was there because of Manon. It would ring off some sort of alarm bells. "The food." Rody quickly replied with his mouth full. Vincent raised an eyebrow. "Pardon." "The food. It's a rare occasion I get to eat food as good as this. Let alone any at all." Rody answered with a mouth full. Some crumbs even spilled out. Vincent looked out in front of him. Rody followed his gaze. Nothing was there. Rody took another swing of the burning liquor before looking back at Vincent. "If you wanted, I could give you leftovers that customers didn't eat." Vincent said. Rody's head snapped over towards him. "Wait really?!" Rody exclaimed as Vincent shrugged. "Sure you just better enjoy those leftovers unlike the fucking bitchs. Nor should you tell Richard." Vincent said menacingly. His voice portrayed pure malicious intent. Rody quickly gulped down his bite. "Got it." Rody said as the music playing in the background of their conversation stopped. Before another song began to play. Vincent grumbled. "I hate this song." Vincent grumbled. Rody couldn't blame him. He never really liked it either. Something about it gave him an uncanny feeling. "Well what song do you like?" Rody asked. Vincent shrugged. "Anything that isn't this." He said. Rody nodded as he walked into the crowded living room. People were dancing around having the time of their lives. As much as Rody didn't want to ruin the fun, but then again if it were for Vincent then it would be worth it. The record player was just in sight. Then someone bumped into him. Causing him to be knocked back. He stumbled and caught himself. That's when he saw her. Manon his beloved standing against the wall. She was dressed in a green dress without any sleeves A white corset tied around her waist. Revealing her curvy physique. The skirt parted to reveal white ruffles and stopped at her knees. Rody's eyes widened as another warm feeling spread across his cheeks. His feet begin to guide him towards her. She almost looked like an angel appearing down from the sky. He was a good few feet away when he saw another man approach her. He saw her smile upon his approach. The two talked before walking further into their room. Arms wrapped against each other as they began to dance to the song he already didn't like. Rody could feel the tears welling in his eyes. "Hey Rody you doing Vincent told me you wanted to..." Richard paused before following Rody's gaze. "Oh yeah Manon's moved on." Richard said before laughing. The laughter rang in his ears. His heart began to accelerate. Alongside his breathing. Something was wrong there. He could feel it."Hey, look on the bright side. She's at least not as disappointed as your parents were when you dropped out." Richard said with another laugh one hand wrapped around Rody's shoulder, and another slapping his other shoulder. Rody couldn't take it. The chatter with the music, Richards laughing, Manon with another man. Now all being brought alongside the last time he ever saw his parents. Rody couldn't take it. He forced himself out of Richard's grasp. Running through the crowd dashing towards the stairs. His mind wasn't thinking properly. All fogged with the thoughts covering through his head. He reached the top and dashed into the closet room. Slamming the door behind him he crouched onto the floor. Ringin had begun to play in his ears as his breathing continued to pick up. What's wrong with me? Rody thought to himself. His hands and feet began to feel fuzzy. He couldn't move. No matter how hard he tried. He covered his ears, and squeezed his eyes shut. Hoping it would all go away. That's what happened last time after all. Vincent walked in, and it all went away. Vincent, he hadn't changed the song. Yet he couldn't move to do so. His body felt it was suffocating. He couldn't breathe yet he was breathing so fast. Then a hand pressed against his shoulder. "RODY!" Vincent screamed though his scream was muffled. Almost like it was underwater, but it didn't matter as everything went black.
