Lyrics Not Meant to be Heard

This time he would talk to Vincent. "What a lie." Rody muttered to himself as he tuned his guitar. He had every opportunity to talk to Vincent about it, and yet. He didn't. He had been kept later than he had expected. Vincent was also tired. He had been waiting to make sure if Rody needed a ride back he could get one. Only to be left exhausted in the end. Rody had felt guilty for it. Especially since Vincent had work the next day. Rody began to play the cowards of the tune he had written. By now Vincent had left for work. Rody knew he would be back sometime sooner or later. For now he could work on his song His mouth humming lyrics.Eventually turning into him singing the lyrics he had memorized. Before new ones melted into his head. Adding them in without relaxing it. His mind was transfixed into another world. Thinking of maybe Vincent would think of the song if he heard it. He wouldn't have to wait long for the answer. As he was interrupted by a knock on the door.

Vincent grumbled as he walked up to his apartment door. Work had not been easy for him today. One waiter was out at his apartment, and every other customer was annoyed while the restaurant was packed. Vincent had to be out on the floor, and it meant dealing with everyone. A thing he hated. His apartment would probably not be much better. Sure Rody was great company, but with the unresolved tension from the other night, and Rody needing some medical care he may be a slight hassle. As Vincent opened the door the gentle sounds of a guitar filled the room. Vincent sighed as he quietly shut the door behind him. At least Rody would be mildly distracted by the guitar. Vincent's footsteps walked quietly amongst the floor as he made his way to the bathroom. Considering it was late he figured he would just start on dinner. That was until he heard Rody's voice when he entered the hall. Vincent furrowed his brow as he quietly approached his room. "...Dunk out of minds, You place your hand on mine, and I melt inside. Your lips meet mine, and all I want is more..." Vincent paused, Rody wasn't drunk. There was no way he was. This wasn't a dream. He knew neither of them could ignore it now. Vincent took in a deep breath and placed three gentle knocks on the door. The tune stopped as Rody snapped his head in the direction of Vincent. Sweat was starting to drip down his face. "How long have you been standing there?" Rody stuttered out. As he stood up from the bed. "Only for a few minutes." Vincent replied. As Rody's mouth began to stutter. "Look, I can explain." Rody said. "Rody." Vincent said but it was no use. Rody was already blabbering off. "I have been looking for song inspiration and I have been having crush-like feelings for you..." "Rody!" Vincent shouted but it wasn't enough. Rody was still rambling off. "... I understand that you may think of me as weird..." Rody was quickly cut off as Vincent grabbed his shirt and smashed his lips against Rody's.

Rody froze immediately. As Vincent pulled back. Rody eyes were left wide. "We need to talk." Was all that came out of his mouth. Vincent nodded as the two sat down. Rody took a deep breath. This was the moment he needed. The moment he would do it. "I remember we kissed when we were drunk. I didn' know how to tell you about it, or if you remembered it." Rody said as Vincnet nodded. "Why didn't you?" Vincent asked as his eyes looked at Rody. Rody looked down at his lap. "We have a weird friendship going on, and I didn't want to ruin it. It also felt wrong." Vincent raised a brow. "What do you mean?" Vincent asked. Rody moved his head down. "I'm supposed to like women. I mean that's what I have been taught. Men are with women and women are with men, and yet I liked it. I like you more than a friend, but at the same time, I..." Rody placed his head in his hands. Silently fearful of what would happen. Would Vincent scream at him and tell him to get out of his apartment? Sure he probably wouldn't but, the thought lingered in his mind. " I also remembered." Rody looked up at Vincent. "I was afraid to tell you because you seemed so desperate to forget it. I thought you only did it because you were drunk. I didn't think that you meant anything." Vincent explained. He looked down at the carpet. Rody scooted closer to Vincent. Vincent looked up at Rody. Who gave a small smile. "I think we shouldn't hide stuff from us like that anymore." Vincent nodded, as he gave him a small smile. "Yeah." Vincent replied as his hand reached out to Rody's. Relief fell through him, as butterflies began to flutter in his stomach. He moved his hand over to Vincent's. Their fingers intertwined as the two looked at each other. Rody could feel himself sinking as they drew a bit closer. Within seconds his lips were pressed against Vincent's again. The kiss wasn't as hungry as the one. It was more gentle. Vincent's other hand moved up to cup his cheek. Rody leaned into it. Before the two parted. Looking at each other with red faces. Rody could feel a smile. "So did that feel wrong?" Vincent replied back. Rody shook his head. "Then it's alright." Vincent replied as he leaned in and gave him a quick kiss. Rody continued to smile and even chuckled. He felt deep down what Vincent said was true. If it felt right for him then it should be right. But his joy faded as his mind thought back to the drunken night. "Something is wrong." Vincent said as Rody looked at him. "What are we?" Rody asked. As Vincent's face softened. "What do you want to be?" Vincent asked as his thumb gently rubbed his cheek. "We can be whatever we want us to be." Vincent replied as Rody smiled, and nodded. "There is one thing we need to do though if we are going to be a couple." Vincent said. Rody furrowed a brow. Vincent's tone was serious. Rody could feel his heart pounding. "If something like this happens again, we need to talk about it immediately. Not dance around the issue like we did." Rody nodded. "Got it." He said as Vincent smiled and nodded. This time Rody leaned in and gave Vincent a kiss on the lips. "Shall I make dinner?" Vincent asked as they parted. Rody nodded eagerly. Ready to have a meal that wasn't awkward with him.
