Beeping filled the room. Vincent groaned as he began to stir. A loud smack against plastic rang through the room. As much as Vincent wanted to go back to bed. He just couldn't. He slung his legs off of the couch and pushed himself off of Rody. He did a quick stretch as Rody groaned from on the couch. Vincent looked back down at him and removed the blanket from Rody. Rody groaned again. Vincent looked up at the time. Sweat began to furrow at his brows. He and Rody had work today, and only about an hour till he had to open. With an additional twenty minutes being given to Rody. "Rody get up." Vincent said as he harshly shook him. "I don't wanna..." Rody complained as Vincent sighed. "Rody you'll make us both late." Vincent said as he pulled Rody's arm up. Rody managed to yank his arm back. Vincent quickly let go. Stumbling forward but managing to catch himself. He bit the inside of his cheek to prevent himself from shouting at him. He figured getting Rody up would be a challenge itself. He walked over to Rody's closet and grabbed his waiter uniform that was hanging on by the most decent hanger before returning back to Rody. Who was finally opening his eyes. He sat up and began to rub his eyes. Vincent threw the uniform against his face as soon as he moved his arms back down. "Get changed." Vincent said as Rody got up and walked to the bathroom. Mumbling something unintelligible to Vincent. He began to scour through Rody's cabinets. It seemed Rody was right about the lack of food. There was barely anything left. With the small exceptions of a nearly expired box of cereal, and a few can goods that were shut. Barely anything to make a decent breakfast let alone any sort of tea. In almost a minute Rody was out. His tie as usual undone. Vincent walked over and quickly did his tie. Rody leaned down and pressed a kiss to his forehead. "Good Morning to you too." Vincent whispered before stepping back. Vincent grabbed his hand and began to drag him to the door. "I don't wanna go to workkkk." Rody complained as Vincent grabbed Rody's keys and locked the door behind them. "I still have to get ready for work as well." Vincent replied as he once again dragged Rody down the stairs to his car.
Rody practically slept the whole drive to Vincent's apartment. It made Vincent wonder if Rody had even slept that night. He kept looking back at his boyfriend who was now slumping over on his shoulder. Vincent didn't mind. It's not like anyone was really going to see them. It was quite easy to find a parking space again. He gently nudged Rody causing him to wake up. "Are we at work?" Rody mumbled. "I still have to get ready dear." Rody shot up and looked at him. It was only then Vincent realized what slipped out his mouth. A bright red appeared on both of their faces as he turned off the engine. Escaping the car with Rody following in tow. The two remained silent until they entered Rody's apartment. "So about the pet name?" Rody said as Vincent placed his keys in a bowl. "It was a slip of the tongue." Vincent explained as he began to walk to his room. He was stopped by Rody's hand against his. Vincent turned back to see a gentle smile plastered on his face. "I liked it." Rody said quietly, Vincent returned the smile. "I'll keep that in mind." Vincent said as he gave a quick peck against Rody's lips. "Mon chéri." He swore Rody nearly melted on the spot as he walked into the kitchen.
Rody felt like he was going to explode. They've graduated to pet names now. Rody didn't mind. It helped soothe out any remembrance of the dread nightmare before. Nightmares he wished to forget but flashed through his mind. The cold air of the freezer had woken him up. The way his breath fogged up when contacting the freezer around him. His hands were tied behind his back. Ropes covered his torso from his chest and ended halfway down his stomach. They provided a burn compared to the cold. Rubbing against his skin creating red markings. The freezer was so dark he could barely make out anything. That was until the door opened. It became apparent that he was in the freezer at the restaurant. Except the place looked different from the millions of times he had seen it with the lights off. It looked more red in tone. Almost masking the dark potent stains lying amongst the ground dragging to the back. A loopy carcass hung from the ceiling by a meat hook. The walls surrounding painted the same red of the organs that were left dripping out of a cut down its center. It wouldn't have freaked Rody out any more if it weren't for its outside looking more like human flesh, and the body itself being just about the size of him. Something shiny was amidst the organs but before he could have a chance to examine it further the culprit stepped into the room. A cold blade was pressed against his neck. Threatening to spill blood at any moment. A large shadowy figure loomed over him. Fifteen seconds he had been given to live. He had tried inchworming his way to the door. The burning ropes continued to rub against his skin. The door light was so bright. He was just there. One more scott. Then he was quickly dragged back into the darkness. A fresh trail of blood followed as he went. Rody felt dizzy upon recalling the dream. He made his way to Vincent's couch and took a seat on the comfortable cushions. He hadn't gotten much sleep afterwards. Still terrified from it. But seeing Vincent peacefully rest against him made him feel better. It made him feel comforted. It made him feel loved. A smile began to appear on Rody's face. "Mon chéri." Those words sounded like butter when they rolled off of Vincent's tongue. "That may be something I can use as a lyric." He muttered to himself as he began to hum the tune he had been working on for a while now. His eyes drifted to the clock on the wall. Panic immediately set through him as Vincent entered the room. "Are you..." "We Got To Go!" Rody shouted as he grabbed Vincent's hand and began to run towards the door. Vincent managed to nab his keys, and Rody paused just long enough for Vincent to lock his door. Without thinking he picked him up by the waist and hoisted him over his shoulder before sprinting as fast as he could down the hall towards the elevator. Quickly pressing the button as the doors by miracle opened in the nick of time as Rody stepped in and quickly pressed the lobby button. "Godamaint Rody put me down!" Vincent shouted as Rody quickly realized. He was still carrying Vincent. "Sorry." He said as he carefully placed Vincent back down on the ground. Making sure he wouldn't fall over. Vincent looked a little ruffled but decent overall. "You are surprisingly strong." Vincent replied as Rody shrugged. "Biking to work everyday has its perks." He replied as the familiar ding signaled that they were at the right floor. They quickly stepped out, and sped walked over to Vincent's car.
Thankfully the drive wasn't too long since Vincent really only lived about a ten minute walk away. Yet he was still later than usual. Which left many of the chefs confused. Though one look from Vincent caused them to shut down any questions about what they're manager was doing later than usual. Let alone with the employee who always showed up the latest. Most of their comments felt more at Rody being early. Rody was slightly grateful for it, but at the same time a small twinge of fear lingered in the back of his mind. To all the other chefs' knowledge this was a one time thing, but Rody knew somewhere this may happen again. Thereforth it may be in their best interest to make sure this wouldn't be a recurring thing. He would just have to find the time to talk to Vincent about it for a moment. Who knew, maybe if he was lucky enough he might even get a kiss if no one was around.
