They're Here

Rody fell off of his couch. His heart was pounding against his chest as he remained on the floor. His breathing was still intense as he shakily stood up. Rody picked up the phone. "Hello?" He huffed out. "Rody, are you alright?" Vincent asked. "Yeah, I just had a nightmare." Rody replied as he began to calm down. He heard a slight grumble. "Is everything alright over there?" Rody asked as Vincent sighed. "Rody, I'm outside at a phone booth not too far, but don't leave your apartment." Rody raised a brow. "Why?" "Your parents' car is blue?" Rody froze for a moment. "Yes?" He asked slowly. "There outside." Rody nearly dropped the phone he moved around. Keeping low to the ground he moved over to the window behind his couch. The alley view hadn't changed. So that gave him an idea where they were parked. "Is it near the front of the building?" Rody asked? "Yes?" Rody looked out the window again. The other building stands miles away. A fire escapes at the window directly across from him. Rody looked down. An idea popped into Rody's head. He looked down to see the same metal bars that made up an identical escape. "I have an idea." Rody said. "What is it?" Vincent asked. "You use the alleyway to get to the back of the apartment building. "I'll meet you down there." Rody said as he walked back to the coffee table. "Are you sure?" Vincent asked again. "Trust me. I found a way." Vincent remained silent on the other end. "Be safe." Vincent said, though the words felt like they were in place of something else. "Love you." Rody said before placing the phone back on the hook. He looked at the window messing with the locks. Eventually breaking it. "Shit!" He said as he pulled at the ledge. Thankfully it opened. He grabbed his suitcase and climbed out onto the balcony. He rushed down the stairs. Careful to dodge the lit windows of his neighbors. Mainly out of fear of causing panic. Eventually able to make it down to the last ledge where the ladder was left hooked up onto the escape. He heard running footsteps approach. He looked over to see Vincent approaching. Rody began to fidget with the latch. Struggling to get the ladder down. "Come on, come on." He muttered before a large snap rang through the alleyway. The ladder dropped down to the ground. Rody nearly falling with it. He grabbed his suitcase and flung it over his arm before climbing down. Careful to go down slowly yet quickly. Until his hand slipped. He quickly tried to grab back onto the ladder only to fail. He was thankful he wasn't too far from the ground. Yet instead of the ground he was instead caught in a pair of arms. Vincent's arms. Rody's face flushed red as he looked up at Vincent. Vincent seemed a little surprised as well. Though he quickly shrugged it off. "Let's go." He said before power walking back the way he came. Rody furrowed his brow as he remained in Vincent's arms. He thought for a moment to ask to be let down. Then again he felt secure in Vincent's arms. He didn't mind as much. He leaned against his shoulder. Actually quite happy to be in his arms. Vincent took a left turn at the first intersection. Leading back out into the main road. Vincent looked left and right before sprinting into the alleyway. Rody could see the familiar blue car. Perfectly parked on the street. The headlights were shining away from them. Giving the assistance of darkness on their side as they made it into the alley. Though he did not stop running. Making another left turn. Rody had to wrap his arms around Vincent's neck. Not out of making something more romantic, but rather the fact that Vincent was incredibly fast. Rody didn't know what he was expecting from him. Eventually they made it to the convenience store Rody had visited to call Manon. Vincent had parked his car in the shadows near the alley. Vincent let Rody down before the two walked up to his car. He placed his key in the door, and unlocked it as Rody opened the trunk and placed his suitcase inside. He slammed it shut as Vincent started the car. He walked around and sat next to Vincent before he pulled out of the parking lot. Driving off into the night. Rody felt slightly relieved, yet terrified. If his parents managed to hunt him down earlier. Would they do the same for Vincent? What kind of sociopathic level were they on to do this? Rody didn't talk to them. They hadn't made any attempt to contact Rody.

Arriving at Vincent's apartment felt reliving as the two quickly walked inside. Vincent had shut the curtains beforehand. Rody could only assume it was on his behalf. "We can go back and get the rest of your stuff if we need to tomorrow." Vincent said as he locked the door before quickly walking up to Rody. "Did they do anything before I got there?" He asked as he took Rody's chin in his hand and moved his face to examine for wounds. "No they didn't." Rody replied as Vincent finished his examination. "I'm surprised they were even able to guess the building." Vincent muttered. Rody did wonder how they managed to guess it as well. Perhaps it was the rundown location of it? Or maybe he never lost them? Rody didn't want to think about the possibilities. "Do you need to shower?" Vincent asked. Rody shook his head. "I'd rather go to bed." Rody said as Vincent nodded. "Alright then. I'm going to bathe." Vincent replied before cupping Rody's cheek and giving him a quick kiss on the lips. Rody smiled as the two walked further into Vincent's apartment.

Rody remained restless on Vincent's bed. He had changed into the spare clothes he used to hide the binder. They were decently more comfortable than the ones he was previously wearing. Yet despite it he was still having a hard time trying to fall asleep. Tossing and turning. Only for it to amount to nothing. Just as he was about to give up on sleep entirely the door opened. Vincent walked in. Having changed into a baggy t-shirt, and sweatpants. He quickly noticed the state Rody was in. "Having trouble sleeping?" He asked as he put his previous clothes in the hamper. "Yeah." Rody sighed as Vincent turned off the light to the hall. Walking over and joining him. Rody quickly cuddled up against him. Burying his head in the crook of Vincent's neck. Vincent quickly pulled his chin up and gave him another kiss. This one lasted a bit longer. "Goodnight dear." Vincent said. "Goodnight love." Rody replied as he closed his eyes. He could've sworn that he heard Vincent's heart pounding a bit faster.
