When they got home, everyone was sitting together in the living room.
After talking for a while and having their dinner,Taniya and Aditya went to change. As they came downstairs, they heard everyone laughing in the living room.
Taniya went and sat beside Naira who was whining about something Kavya had said.
“What's happening?” Taniya asked excitedly.
“You know,” Kavya asked, smiling cheek to cheek.“Once Veer had to write an essay on ‘My Favorite Animal.’ Can you guess which animal he picked?”
Taniya was already grinning, knowing anything involving Veer would be comedy gold. "What did he write?"
Kavya's smile widened as she replied, "A donkey."
“A donkey? Seriously?" Taniya asked as she burst into laughter
Kavya nodded, barely containing her own laughter, “and it gets better. He wrote the entire essay describing this donkey in detail and then ended with: 'I have a pet donkey at home. My parents treat her like their child and want me to consider her my sister. We've named her Naira with so much love.'"
Taniya and Veer's loud laughter rang through the room while Naira was whining continuously.
“How many times can you laugh at the same joke?” Naira asked, nudging Veer with her elbow.
“I can't help it. It gets funnier every time we repeat it” Veer managed to say between his laughs.
Veer continued saying things from their childhood which made everyone laugh and it seemed funnier to Taniya as she was laughing while clutching her stomach.
Aditya glanced up from his laptop, drawn by the sound of her laughter.
Taniya was laughing with her head tilted back against the sofa, laughing so freely it lit up the entire room. A soft smile tugged at his lips as he looked at her.
"Bhabhi's life must be so fun. She doesn't have any sibling” Naida said, turning to Taniya.
“It's okay fun. I don't have fun stories like you” Taniya said as her laughter reduced to a gentle smile.
"Tell us some of your childhood stories with your cousin then. You have a cousin right?”
“Honestly, I don't have many funny ones from childhood. I only started living with my uncle after my father passed away. I lived there only for a a few months before I went to boarding school”
“And your mother?” Kavya asked suddenly. “Sorry no one mentioned your mother before and i was also hesitant to ask you this” she further explained.
“I grew up with my father and uncle,” Taniya said with a small smile, closing the topic.
Aditya's fingers were still on the keyboard as his gaze had shifted from his screen to Taniya.
“But I do have plenty of funny medical school stories." Taniya said, breaking the silence that had enveloped the room.
Relief washed over everyone's face as they saw her face light up once again narrating her medical school stories.
