When they reached home, everyone gathered in the living room. Kavya, with a warm smile, said, "You both came back. Come, let's have dinner now."
The family settled around the dinner table. Taniya, still new to this post-marriage routine, savored the experience.
She marveled at the strong bond this family shared.
They always ate together, cherishing each moment. It was as if they embodied the saying, "The family that eats together stays together." Taniya hoped they would continue this tradition forever.
After dinner, they all gathered in the living room. The senior Singhania couple conversed with their son and daughter-in-law.
Meanwhile, the trio—Taniya, Naira, and Veer—engaged in some discussion.
Aditya sat on the opposite couch, diligently working on his laptop.
As Veer and Naira recounted childhood stories, everyone's attention shifted to them.
Veer's mischievous antics and how he used to annoy Naira had everyone laughing. Kavya leaned in and shared a hilarious memory.
"You know, beta," she began, "once Veer had to write an essay titled 'My Favorite Animal.' Can you guess what he wrote about?"
Taniya couldn't contain her laughter already knowing that it would be something hilarious since it was Veer we are talking about.
"What did he write?"
Kavya grinned. "He wrote about a donkey."
Taniya burst into uncontrollable laughter. "A donkey? Seriously?"
Kavya nodded. "And it gets even better. Veer described the whole essay, ending with this: 'I have a pet donkey at home. My parents treat her like their child and want me to consider her my sister. We've named her Naira with so much love.'"
Taniya's laughter echoed through the room, contagious and joyous.
Naira's whining and Veer's playful mimicry added to the merriment.
Aditya glanced up from his laptop, his eyes drawn to Taniya. Seeing her laid back on the sofa, hands clutching her stomach as she laughed, a smile tugged at his lips.
Her happiness was a sight to behold.
As the stories flowed, the laughter grew louder and louder.
Naira, curious, turned to Taniya. "Bhabhi, you don't have any siblings."
Taniya's response was simple. "I am a single child. But I have a cousin sister named Nimrit."
Veer chimed in, eager for more tales. "Tell us some of your childhood stories!"
Taniya hesitated. "Honestly, I don't have many funny stories from my childhood. My parents and I first lived separately and after my father's death i used to live with my uncle and aunt. Boarding school didn't offer much in the way of mischief either."
Aditya's fingers paused on the keyboard. His gaze lingered on Taniya.
There was more to her past than met the eye.
Suddenly, the room fell silent. Taniya broke it with a smile. "But I do have plenty of funny medical school stories."
The gloom lifted from the family's faces. They leaned in, eager for her stories.
"So one time we were in the anatomy and many students used to get unconscious there. I was one of the few students who would look into the procedure keenly and one time was friend was with watching me and said, "You've got some nerve" and i replied with, "actually it's a tendon".
